What Skiers Say About Les Menuires

Les Menuires is primarily reviewed by intermediate and advanced skiers who value its central position in the Three Valleys system, allowing easy access to Méribel, Val Thorens, and Courchevel. Most users highlight the extensive skiing options, efficient lift system, and significantly lower accommodation costs compared to neighbouring resorts. The resort is consistently described as family-friendly with good ski schools, though many note the purpose-built architecture lacks charm and the après-ski scene is quieter than Val Thorens or Méribel. Several reviewers mention busy pistes during peak periods, particularly school holidays, and crowded runs at the base of the resort.

I normally ski the Feb half term and considering the vast number of people there at that time it really feels overwhelming
But snow conditions obviously suffer

Last season I went out for last week and was rewarded with 1M deep power and well groomed runs
I often ski in excess of 20 miles a day there really using the same run more than once

So in short it has something for everyone regardless of ability
Some weeks are better with family and some with mates or the people you meet on the slopes and lifts

Le Menuires is a family resort, somewhat dated but good value and under rated. All 7 grandchildren have learnt to ski there. Having skied for 60 years in various places around the World, Le Menuires is now the place I return to every year for anything from 1 week to 5 weeks, simply because I can ski in a vast area with all that I need to suit my ability.

The resort is in the Trois Vallee region. In the Le Menuires Valley you have rapid access to Val Thorens (highest resort in France) all the way down the mountain to St Martin de Bellville and of course the 4th Valley at the south side of Val Thorens.

From Le Menuires you have access to Meribel and Courchevel.

For every standard there are numerous, Green, Blue, Red and Black runs and Off - Piste opportunities.

The shops are helpful and friendly. Restaurants and cafes are plentiful with choices of menu. It is more of a family resort, unlike Val Thorens and much more open than Merbel around the village. A regular connects the resort from the top at Grand Reberty down to Preyerand.

There are a numerous types of accommodation: Chalets, Appartments and Studious with easy access and links to and from the slopes.

All in all, a good Family resort that has been catering for skiers and Families since at least 1980 and has expanded to provided unlimited skiing.

Les Menuires has a good selection of beginner slopes although generally they are the final routes into the resort. So if you are a genuine beginner the. You run the risk of being intimidated or indeed injured by aggressive idiot skirmers who ski inappropriately on the green and blue runs. Having said that some effort has been made to segregate true beginners from more advanced skiers. And sadly this is a global problem. Not exclusive to Les Menuires. Further afield there is a huge selection of on and off piste runs throughout the wider 3V network. The lift network is extensive and its generally possible and easy to pick your route around the resort and neighbouring valleys to expeditors your transit and avoid queues if you n ow where to go. Theres a good selection of restaurants. Some gems and others that are less so. Prices are not particularly wallet friendly but again thats a global problem. At the end of the day the resort offers something for everyone and all abilities. Its a must visit resort.

Les menuires is a great family resort with a very French feel. Huge area and centrally positioned in the three valleys for access to the other resorts. Good range of types of accommodation and a lot of self cater apartments.
It is however fairly quiet in the evenings due to its family bias.

Overall runs are brilliant - if conditions are good there are plenty of off piste sections especially in the Ponte de la masse run and sections through val-thorens. Overall for the skiing the 3 vallées are brilliant. Loads of good food around the resort and obviously good apres at folie douce and loads of other places.

Les menuires is a fantastic value for money resort which is connected to the biggest ski area in the world. The lift systems are amazing, the snow is top quality.
The centre of Les menuires does have everything you need, even though it isn't the most picturesque, but it does what it says on the tin! Gives you a great base to explore from, wether it be courchevel, Val thorens, merribel or orelle. It's possible to do them all in one day from this amazing location.
It's definitely 5 stars for me.

Les Menuires is a hidden gem within the three valleys. Often a lesser known resort of, it benefits from quieter slopes yet having easy access to Méribel, Val Thorens and Courcheval within half an hour of the first lifts rolling. The relatively new pont de le masse lift also gives stunning views across the alps and access to more fabulous runs. The resort prides itself in being family friendly and has plenty of apres activities for kids from snow play to soft play there is something to please all little ones!

As both an expert skier and intermediate boarder there is something for everyone, from wide blues for some carving to ungroomed patrolled areas for a taste of off piste.

When the snow comes down there is plenty of opportunities for a little play off piste in search of powder, and nothing beats floating over a freshly groomed run either!

From the shops, to restaurants and ski school the staff and locals are friendly and welcoming and appreciated our rather poor attempts in French.

One of those places you can return to year on year without being bored!

Fantastic runs both sides of the valley. Great range of blues, less runs in this resort for the more advanced skier, but as part of the 3 valley system easy to find elsewhere.

Lifts were modern and well maintained.

Famille friendly resort. The architecture isnt great with a few large building but its changing to nicer chalet types of accommodation. The off post terrain is unparalleled and if you know where to go isnt overcrowded. It connects to the 3 valleys which is the largest ski area in the world. Options are endless.

The resort was perfect for the variety of pistes and I was lucky with the ski-in and out accommodation.
The restaurants were at high standards and decent apres.
Some of the beginner pistes were overcrowded but the higher you go up the quieter it became.
Good amount of grocery shops and some decent sized ones too which is sometimes hard to get in ski resorts. Overall, I had a good week of skiing with lots of fun as an experienced skier.
