La Rosière 1850 Review Summary
La Rosière attracts primarily families, beginners, and intermediate skiers who value quiet slopes and wide, well-groomed pistes. The resort is consistently described as family-friendly with minimal lift queues and a relaxed atmosphere. Most reviewers highlight the connection to La Thuile in Italy as a key feature, though access requires two long drag lifts. The south-facing aspect provides sunny conditions but reviewers note this can lead to icy or slushy snow, particularly later in the season or during low snowfall. Advanced skiers find limited challenging terrain on groomed runs but mention accessible off-piste options. Après-ski and nightlife are repeatedly described as minimal, with limited evening activities and early bar closures.

The atmosphere in La Rosiere is incredible with the iglu bar and the variety of restaurants and bars in the town makes it a great place to holiday.
Alongside this if youre not really up for skiing or its not a great day theres other activities like the cinema, x-luge the incredible toboggan/ mountain rollercoaster which is amazing and lets you see all views whilst enjoying a thrilling ride. The ice skating rink which is great fun!
Overall I absolutely adore La Rosiere and will be back as its such a great place and quieter than other more well known places which makes it perfect for beginners.
The link to La Thuile also is an added bonus if you want more runs to explore! I didnt personally as I found the runs more than enough for me but great for people in a group of different expertise
Again, would highly recommend La Rosiere as its my favourite ski resort and ticked all my personal boxes for a ski holiday.
Really good snow conditions. South facing French side so warm but the snow holds well in the valley.
The ski link to Italy is two, long drag lifts which could be improved. But skiing in the Italian side is a totally different experience. North facing, with lots of long, cruisy reds and blue routes to choose from to ski all the way from the peak to the La Thuile resort at 1450m.
Never ate on the Italian side (had to be back in La Rosiere for lunch time ski school pickup) but the lunch options in France were varied enough in quality and price.
Village has a nice atmosphere and the resort is much quieter and authentic than many of the bigger resorts in the same valley.
The village has a nice feel to it - it's not soulless like some of the bigger resorts in the valley. The chance to ski in Italy is fantastic and provides lots of options for skiing and eating.
Good prices, good feel and great skiing :)
Great teaching from ESF. Probably a little quiet on the apres front but I prefer that. Good for families, or people wanting a quieter trip.
The trek to Italy La Thule is via a huge drag lift which I am not sure was worth the effort.
Overall we had a great time but would say its definitely for families and would not suit a different kind of trip where you wanted to push yourself.
