La Rosière 1850 Review Summary

La Rosière attracts primarily families, beginners, and intermediate skiers who value quiet slopes and wide, well-groomed pistes. The resort is consistently described as family-friendly with minimal lift queues and a relaxed atmosphere. Most reviewers highlight the connection to La Thuile in Italy as a key feature, though access requires two long drag lifts. The south-facing aspect provides sunny conditions but reviewers note this can lead to icy or slushy snow, particularly later in the season or during low snowfall. Advanced skiers find limited challenging terrain on groomed runs but mention accessible off-piste options. Après-ski and nightlife are repeatedly described as minimal, with limited evening activities and early bar closures.

Lovely, pretty resort high in the Alps with skiing over to Italy, and a good range of runs easily accessible from La Rosiere. The adjacent Les Eucharts is the more modern part, with nice chalet accommodation, less in the way of apres ski. Good resort with excellent snow record and popular with families and those wanting a relaxed ski experience.

Really good resort for families and beginners. Nice wide blues and reds with the steep parts of reds often meaning the reds are a similar level to the blues. A very windy resort resulting in a mixture of ice and powder piles in the afternoon. Compared to other resorts found the groomed slopes to be a bit icy first thing. We did not go during a school holiday but the slopes were not busy which was great. We had a beginner with us and it meant they could practice without worrying about the number of people hurtling past them. Limited tree runs but if you head to la thuile lots over there. The button lift to la thuile is very long and could do with an update as this would help on those very windy days. There was only one day with snow that enabled us to try out off pieste, and some options if you head higher up, the non pieste blacks were some of my favourite runs of the holidays.None of the lifts have covers, but all work well and have fairly good coverage. Fairly small resort with a few food and drinks options, small apres on the slopes I would not come here expecting a big night out, but the atmosphere is very nice. Loved the walk between la rossiere and les euchets which also had a small tobogon slope for kids.

La Rosiere is perfect for families and friends alike. Definitley a more chill pace but so great and you can ski to Italy for the day as adventure. Theres such wide blue runs perfect for novices.

Very nice resort, great slopes for all ages and abilities. It is great how it connects with La Thuile, Italy so you can experience france and italy. Ski school is very good and friendly plus the food and accommodation is amazing! Only issue is that it isnt a very big resort so you can run out of ski runs easily.

The overall feeling of the resort is lovely. Full of different restaurants so you'd never have to go to the same spot twice! The groomed runs were smooth as butter and I loved the small kickers off to the sides of some of them. Off-Piste was pretty good on a snowday and fun on some of the less steep off piste bits in-between runs. There is a club/bar type place but I was told it only ever gets busy on Wednesdays, which it was. Overall a decent place for skiing/snowboarding but a tad expensive too, worth it though.

Good place to go for a first time skiier with lots of nice blue runs from a main peak (Roc noir).Realistically split into 2 base areas connected by a bus. I felt when I was there that they could have been better connected via the slopes but I think that's more likely due to my inexperience.Excellent coaching to take me from complete beginner to comfortable doing wedge turns.Nice food options and nice atmosphere, compared to my next experiecne at Meribel, definitely had a nice small resort vibe. 2 different sides could be better connected but overall a nice experience. Would go back but maybe not for a whole week now I have more experience.

Great ski resort with connection to Italy - family friendly and usually quiet. Mixture of challenging terrain with Mont Valaisan area opening up lots of technical off piste skiing. Would recommend the runs down into the col du petit saint-bernard in Italy for the best skiing.

Great resort for families or beginners/intermediates. It was my boyfriends 2nd time skiing, and long blue and red runs were perfect to learn on. Amazing views around the valley, and option to ski over into Italy. Great opportunities for off piste.

Had a fantastic week in a catered chalet with my partner. Lovely range of skiing with the option to ski over to La Thuile on the Italian side giving a real variety and different options. Plenty of nice bars/cafes on the slopes. A great family friendly resort with a lovely atmosphere and tons of snow. Would definitely return.

A wonderful family friendly area that is perfect for learning to ski and for venturing off for some more complex routes.I learnt to ski here as a child and have been back since - it caters for all ranges. The wonderful light show is truly a spectacle and the restaurants are brilliant. If you fancy more adventure then the valleys are easily accessible, and there is a snow park as well as a speed test area, plenty of fun for everyone!

Second week of January 2025, lots of snow and powder, fun runs and not too big to explore as a beginner/intermediate skiier, even went on the border cross. There was a lot of powder thanks to the weather and the sunset views were beautiful. We stayed in town a short 5 min walk to the main chair lift. Lunch and drinks at all the restaurants on the slopes, and ski school from 2:30 to 5 pm. Six days of skiing and I could have stayed for longer.

Very exposed, which makes the weather seem more extreme. Amazing when the suns out but when its bad weather little protection from wind or snow due to its position in the mountain and lack of trees. Ultimately good runs and a great trip. P.S if you go you must ski to the Italian border and try a bombadino!

Transfer to resort from Chambery was long (2-3 hours). There are lots of hotels and apartments in resort, with plentry of variety and cost options. Plenty of eating options too. La Rosiere village is more livey with a bigger supermarket and more shops, than the Eucherts lift area, which is about 1km away. We stayed in the Eucherts area which was ski from the door. It had snowed about 1-2.5 meters before our stay, so great snow and well groomed. All lifts were open and the link into Italy (La Thuile) is a must for intermediate skiers. La Rosiere is South facing so we had great sun each day too - luckily. We went at new year and average temperature was about 8 degrees. No slush at all though. If you're a powder skier, there are lots of off Piste areas, which are also safe and lead back to groomed areas and lifts. Overall, this a great resort with great skiing for most abilities. Not many blacks, but off Piste can help here. Family skiing is a strength here. Will definitely return to La Rosiere!

We just left La Rosière today, unfortunately there wasnt the best weather but when we did manage to get on the slopes I would say this resort is great for beginners/intermediate skiers due to how quiet the slopes are and wide.

A great, family friendly resort, perfect for beginners with excellent self-catering cabins. Not particularly lively in the evenings with only 1 or 2 bars remaining open after 6pm, although you could walk to a nearby town which was more bustling. Beautiful slopes and the ability to ski over to Italy is so fun!
