La Rosière 1850 Review Summary
La Rosière attracts primarily families, beginners, and intermediate skiers who value quiet slopes and wide, well-groomed pistes. The resort is consistently described as family-friendly with minimal lift queues and a relaxed atmosphere. Most reviewers highlight the connection to La Thuile in Italy as a key feature, though access requires two long drag lifts. The south-facing aspect provides sunny conditions but reviewers note this can lead to icy or slushy snow, particularly later in the season or during low snowfall. Advanced skiers find limited challenging terrain on groomed runs but mention accessible off-piste options. Après-ski and nightlife are repeatedly described as minimal, with limited evening activities and early bar closures.

Quiet slopes but adequate for some low-intensity and relaxing skiing as was travelling with a novice skier so provided an excellent leaning experience.
Low key après ski in the village however did make some friends during the week.
Its a great family resort but also great for couples get away. There isnt much apres ski but we didn't mind that.
Lovely hotels and apartment. A shout for Hotel ILY and Alperena, we have stayed in both and they are wonderful.
Ski school and instructors also great. A gem in my eyes.
Quiet light queues, enough bars and restaurants to enjoy for a week and some great off piste between the runs.
Enjoy Le Comptoir (formerly the Petit Danois)
Lots of family friendly events too
The journey from the airport can get very congested, but that affects all resorts in the area. Not necessarily a markdown, more just something to be aware of.
Also, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes, but if you’re a late eater you may find that your options are limited.
Very enjoyable, the town is a bit sleepy.
Reasonable prices for the Tarantaise and friendly people working in the resort. Decent food and drink available at all venues. Lift system gets people up the mountain without drama. But they then all need to ski back home down the steep, wide blue runs. So, a full mix of people; the fast, slow, inconsiderate and the careful all funnelling down towards the bottom. Humm
If youve not been to La Ros before then its certainly worth a visit.
Skiing into Italy (La Thuile) is also fun and eating lunch there is a must, however I thought the skiing around La Rosiere was far superior. Restaurants and bars on the slopes are a bit limited but the ones that are there are good - however if you are there for a week you will be revisiting places. The town itself is small and pretty and is very family friendly, I was fortunate enough to stay free with Club Med which was excellent in La Rosiere but you don't get to experience the town to the full extent. Overall I think La Rosiere is fantastic if you are keen skiier but are happy to take a more laid back approach and aren't fussed about the apres.
