La Rosière 1850 Review Summary

La Rosière attracts primarily families, beginners, and intermediate skiers who value quiet slopes and wide, well-groomed pistes. The resort is consistently described as family-friendly with minimal lift queues and a relaxed atmosphere. Most reviewers highlight the connection to La Thuile in Italy as a key feature, though access requires two long drag lifts. The south-facing aspect provides sunny conditions but reviewers note this can lead to icy or slushy snow, particularly later in the season or during low snowfall. Advanced skiers find limited challenging terrain on groomed runs but mention accessible off-piste options. Après-ski and nightlife are repeatedly described as minimal, with limited evening activities and early bar closures.

Stayed in a catered chalet as a couple with our young daughter. The chalet was excellent as were tge staff there. The resort was brilliant for families, loads of runs for all abilities and tge ootion to ski over into Italy and down into La Thuile through awesome.e tree lined runs. We did this on 2 days. Overall I would highly recommend this resort.

Stayed in a shared catered chalet and had an excellent experience although the food was fairly basic.
Quiet slopes but adequate for some low-intensity and relaxing skiing as was travelling with a novice skier so provided an excellent leaning experience.
Low key après ski in the village however did make some friends during the week.

I learnt to ski here- had a great ski school and I was on a red by the end of the week! The school took us on loads of routes throughout the week which was great fun! The slopes weren’t too busy and they had a nice mix of all levels of slopes!

La Rosiere is truly a wonderful place. The skiing is wonderful, great wide slopes, mainly quiet even in the holidays and with the link to Italy it provides so much variety run wise.
Its a great family resort but also great for couples get away. There isnt much apres ski but we didn't mind that.
Lovely hotels and apartment. A shout for Hotel ILY and Alperena, we have stayed in both and they are wonderful.
Ski school and instructors also great. A gem in my eyes.

Having done a ski season in La Rosiere I can highly recommend it.
Quiet light queues, enough bars and restaurants to enjoy for a week and some great off piste between the runs.

Enjoy Le Comptoir (formerly the Petit Danois)

Lots of family friendly events too

I loved my experience here. The views were beautiful!!!! There were a few too many pull rope lifts for my taste particularly the one you had to take to get back to the ski storage room but the lockers there were spacious and I loved the ski in ski out aspect. There was also a shuttle from a further area of the mountain back to the hotel. I have enjoyed all the club med locations I’ve been to but the food here was definitely the best. The entertainment was fantastic as well, so much fun. I took Pilates and went in the jacuzzi and steam room. I didn’t actually get in the pool but it was gorgeous and the view from that side of the resort was stunning!!! I guess one downside is it’s 3 hours from Geneva airport but that’s probably true of most ski resorts

La Rosiere really is one of France's best kept secrets. South facing slopes, high snow sure resort, a huge ski area linked to La Thuile in Italy providing well groomed slopes for a variety abilities and stunning views along tge Iseran valley. A good selection of restaurants and bars, both on the slopes and in the villages. An excellent and broad selection of accommodation from luxury hotels and catered chalets to self catered apartments. It's a reasonably priced resort when compared to the neighbours like the 3 valleys and Eapace Killy. Family friendly with good entertainment. An excellent ice hockey team that plays on a Wednesday evening. I worked a ski season there and loved every moment. I go back as often as possible (winter and summer). La Ros gets 10/10!

Amazing resort for families. The slopes are really quiet. There is good access to slopes for beginners as well as advance with lots of off piste powder between runs. There is lots to do for non skiers too. Plus there’s always lots of snow and lots of sun in La Rosiere!

I very much enjoyed my stay at this resort. It’s a family favourite and a bit of a hidden gem in a lot of ways. Excellent skiiing for all levels, and depending on when you go in the season the slopes aren’t busy at all!

The journey from the airport can get very congested, but that affects all resorts in the area. Not necessarily a markdown, more just something to be aware of.

Also, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes, but if you’re a late eater you may find that your options are limited.

The first time we skied La Rosiere in April 2018, we fell In love. With the resort, the people, the sun filled slopes and dining out. Luckily we found a chalet apartment for sale in quiet area of Gollet. Our 2nd home for 5 years and not a single regrets. A perfect resort for family holidays, couples, retirees.

Along with its twin village of Les Eucherts, La Rosiere is a great little resort with the amazing option to ski over to the resort of La Thuile in Italy, where the food is much cheaper! I'd describe La Rosiere and Les Eucherts as villages with a quieter vibe more suited to families and to those seeking a meal - or just a quiet drink - than to those party animals looking for lively nightlife. It's important to bear in mind that the link to Italy can close when the weather is unfavourable and that will, of course, greatly limit your piste options. That said, there is a great, unpisted black run in the lower section of La Rosiere, which takes you through or next to trees. The bottom of that run is also accesible via a much gentler slope, so groups can split up and each skier can find their own way down. At the bottom, the way back up to village level is via an ancient chair lift that takes you up and over the river. Fortunately, the resort have placed a large net there to prevent any unfortunate skiers from ending up in the water! A ride on that chairlift is a must-do for anyone skiing in the resort, in my view. - In summary, a great little resort. Maybe not one to visit every season, but it's certainly one that I enjoy returning to. The slopes have become a little busier in recent years as new accommodation options - including some quite upmarket ones - have sprung up in the resorts. For me, La Rosiere and Les Eucherts are really one resort. You can ski down to either and there is a path through the trees that allows you to easily walk from one to the other. I hope to ski there again before too long.

Good ski resort border with the Italian resort of La Thile, that creates a bigger domain with plenty of piste and off piste rides.
Very enjoyable, the town is a bit sleepy.

La Rossiere is a very underrated resort. Very good value for money and linked with La Thuile (Italy) which forms the Espace San Bernardo ski area. (156km) In my opinion great skiing for all levels of skiers and borders. Good for families as well.

Medium sized resort. Great views up and down the valley. Windy and south facing but good snowmaking to keep the key runs open. "Red" mountain, all blues have steep sections so not great for timid skiers. Almost all runs above the treeline on a slab of a mountain resulting in limited options in bad weather (i.e. times of poor visibility or a bitter wind that is in your teeth on any chair) but with fresh snow and/or better visibility theres a lot to go for. Italy is on the same lift pass for some different terrain and a cheaper lunch but theres a proper Red over the edge to navigate followed by 2 seriously long drag lifts along a flatish valley. If you can ski its worth a visit otherwise probably more effort and anxiety than desirable.
Reasonable prices for the Tarantaise and friendly people working in the resort. Decent food and drink available at all venues. Lift system gets people up the mountain without drama. But they then all need to ski back home down the steep, wide blue runs. So, a full mix of people; the fast, slow, inconsiderate and the careful all funnelling down towards the bottom. Humm
If youve not been to La Ros before then its certainly worth a visit.

La Rosiere is a lovely resort offering spectacular views of the Tarentaise. The skiing is small but the runs are excellent with something for every ability, with the groomed piste being the highlight. Off piste is good here and easily accessible from the lifts (nothing too crazy). There are rarely queues for lifts which is refreshing compared to other resorts nearby.
Skiing into Italy (La Thuile) is also fun and eating lunch there is a must, however I thought the skiing around La Rosiere was far superior. Restaurants and bars on the slopes are a bit limited but the ones that are there are good - however if you are there for a week you will be revisiting places. The town itself is small and pretty and is very family friendly, I was fortunate enough to stay free with Club Med which was excellent in La Rosiere but you don't get to experience the town to the full extent. Overall I think La Rosiere is fantastic if you are keen skiier but are happy to take a more laid back approach and aren't fussed about the apres.
