What Skiers Say About La Clusaz

La Clusaz attracts primarily families and intermediate skiers, with a significant number of beginners learning on the Beauregard area. The resort is consistently praised for its proximity to Geneva airport (one hour transfer), authentic French village atmosphere, and excellent restaurant quality both on and off the mountain. Reviewers regularly mention minimal lift queues, friendly locals, and terrain suitable for progression. Common criticisms include limited runs for complete beginners beyond the nursery slopes, low altitude leading to unreliable snow on lower runs (especially late season), repetitive terrain for advanced skiers staying longer than a few days, and minimal après-ski compared to larger resorts.

Really lovely trip but a steep run into the 1 apres bar. Lots of different runs across the resort for skiers of all levels.

Overall the runs were a bit repetitive for greens and blues as they were more limited. There were 4 mountains in total but to get to them all or complete them you often had to red or black at some point so I wouldn’t recommend for beginners or low intermediates. Never queued for ski lifts for longer than a few minutes, ski lifts go right into town and free shuttle busses were great and never too crowded.

Lovely resort but defo more family friendly than party vibes! Great lift service though and would recommend the La Montagne hotel. Some STUNNING views and great runs if you’re comfortable to venture away from the village. A few locals and instructors told us (and we agree) that a blue run is a bit of a lottery in La Clusaz - some blues were definitely reds.

Been going here for many years. Great skiing and food and queues are never long for the lifts. My wife learnt to ski her at 5 and we will be doing the same with our own children soon!

Loved this fairly quiet, traditional resort. Weather was amazing but needs more snow as very warm the week we stayed.

We will definitely be back. Col du Balme was the ski highlight.

Lots of lovely restaurants and great area for all abilities.

We have had the best introduction to skiing having visited La clusaz. The ski instructor was excellent. We hired a private session 3 hours a day for 2 days. By the end of day 2 we were skiing easy blues having never skied before.

The lifts were easy and never really busy, we had plenty of options of where to go and the buses were easy to use and regular if we wanted somewhere different away from the slopes that were within walking distance.

The village has some really lovely shops, a lovely square and some fab restaurants. They spoke English and were very friendly. Highly recommend we had a fab time.

Very easy and quick to get to, short transfer from Geneva. We travelled as 2 couples for 4 nights (3 days skiing). The village itself is beautiful and very traditional. The food scene is great and we didn’t have a bad meal. Nice wine bar and places for drinks in the village. We were here during low season but found a relatively good apres scene. The skiing is great for intermediates as there are plenty of stunning reds and blues. The beginner area is, as the name suggests, beginner friendly, however there are limited other options for complete beginners, unless you’re staying longer and have the chance to really progress.
All in all would recommend for a short ski trip with a traditional feel, great food, intermediate level skiing and ease of access.

Been twice now. Great for intermediates. Facilities fantastic, suits all ages. Pretty traditional town with friendly locals and gorgeous shops. Food was amazing every restaurant we went. Good sized ski area with plenty of piste choice without being too over whelming. Would defo recommend and would return. I wouldn’t visit before it comes to commercial. Beautiful resort

Great for a quick weekend or quiet family trip. This resort is only a short drive from Geneva airport, and the slopes are so quiet even on weekends. So if you fancy a quick weekend get away, it’s great, however, there isn’t a huge area, and it is low altitude so not absolutely snow sure.

Really lovely ski area. Very nice village but do not recommend if not skiing and/or hiking everyday. It is very boring to not be doing anything as the village is very small and quiet. Lots of options for eating out but mostly same menu options.

Second trip to La Clusaz. The town is a very picturesque alpine resort with great restaurants, make sure you book in advance! Not a huge resort but fantastic for a long weekend trip as only 1 hour drive from Geneva. Lifts are good and I’ve never had to queue, slopes rely on good snow fall but are a good variety for all levels. I’m going back for a third time in 2026.

Had a great time first visit to this area, the location is good and we really enjoyed the skiing. All lifts were operational during our visit there are some great little restaurants in the centre and reasonably priced with a good supermarket for all if self catering. The town was beautiful and at night was very pretty all lit up lifts run across three main areas plenty of tree runs some off piste for the more daring! Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning

Snow was very poor for the most part but we had one good dump that didn’t last very long. Apart from that it was a nice resort easy to get around and seems very family friendly. Decent bars and restaurants for Apres.

I keep coming back to La Clusaz and never run out of slopes to try out. The lifts are short enough to do quick repeats of slopes especially ones with jumps. Barely feel like its overcrowded. Plenty spots with great views perfect with a warm crepe.
