Very good family oriented ski resort - not too busy or loud. Wide runs with a lot of sunshine throughout the year, and plenty of off-piste opportunities. Not much in the park but overall a very good ski resort.

I loved my time in flaine with a really good choice of slopes and views overlooking Mont Blanc. The food we had during our time was great and the flat we stayed in was really homely and cute.

large easy to access ski area with great range of runs. lotsof snow until mid April. Limited apres ski, but enough for basic entertainment

we have gone to this resort almost 10 times, its always a pleasure, its nice and chill with the right amount of black runs and off piste. the food is always amazing and the hotels are always clean, warm and have everything you need

My wife and I have been going to Flaine and the Grand Massif ski area for the pasted 6 years and we love it. There’s a good variety of ski runs across the 4 main resorts. Favourite run would be Aujon which turns into Céléstine a tight turning tree lined piste. Best restaurants on the slopes we’ve found are La Pete à Jules (Flaine) and La Luge à Téran (Samoëns), the latter has the friendliest owners and staff. Best view for lunch and a tipple brought from home is at the top of Lindars Nord.

I loved Flaine for the long, wide, open reds. Nice restaurants on the slopes too. It is lacking in apres ski options though. However I still had an amazing holiday :)

Great place to ski which is close to Geneva Airport. Hire a car an be there is an hour. Lots of good accommodations.

Great family resort - most runs return to a central bowl so it's easy to try new runs without fear of getting lost! Lots of accommodation close to slops, bars and restaurants. Accommodation options include pools and spas as well as more basic options. Really great for a family trip!

We've visited Flaine for season opening for a long weekend for the last 10 years or so. Always had a brilliant time. Always been able to ski - Flaine 's North facing bowl really hangs on to early season snow. We've also been able to ski over to Les Carroz, Morillon and Samoëns, even at the beginning of the season.

Flaine itself isn't chocolate box pretty, but it has a certain brutalitist charm, and as French Alpine resorts go, it's among the friendliest.

We stayed in Flaine as a family of four. 2 adults 2 children aged 10 and 13. Plenty of variety of slopes ski school ok, lots of mountain cafes. Good public swimming pool and outside ice rink. Not massive amount of restaurants but enough lots of local cuisine. We went at Easter half term so fairly busy but snow and overall reasonable price especially lift passes. Would recommend for families

Flaine is a fantastic ski destination for families, especially those with young or beginner skiers. The ski area is well laid out, with wide, cruisy runs that are perfect for building confidence. There's a great mix of terrain, so everyone from first-timers to more experienced skiers can enjoy themselves without feeling out of their depth.

One of the standout features is the quality of the ski schoolsboth group and private lessons are very well organised, and the instructors are patient, professional, and great with kids. It's a great place to learn or brush up on skills in a supportive and scenic environment.

If you're heading to Flaine for the après, though, you might be a little underwhelmed. It's a quieter resort in the evenings, with a more relaxed and family-friendly vibe rather than lively bars and parties. Perfect if you're after peaceful nights, but not ideal if you're chasing a big après-ski scene.

All in all, Flaine is a solid choice for a family ski holiday with great training facilities and reliable snowjust dont expect the nightlife to be the main attraction.

Snow no longer reaches all the way down to the lower resorts, so not all Grand Massif runs are available, eg. cant always ski back to Les Carroz, Cascades run closed.
Good wide pistes for cruising fast. Most dont become mogul fields in the afternoons.
Easy to navigate lifts.
Not best resort for complete beginners as some connecting Blues can be a challenge.
On-mountain lunch stops less varied and less high quality than Italy & Austria, but still expensive.

FLAINE IS SUCH A GREAT FAMILY RESORT AND EVERYTHING IS SO ACCESIBLE.
THERE IS ENOUGH SKIING FOR A WEEK AND WITH LOTS OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF RUNS TO KEEP THE WHOLE FAMILY HAPPY .. FROM LITTLE ONES TO THE MORE ADVANCED. THERE ARE LOTS OF LOVELY OFF PISTE RUNS AS WELL. HOWEVER MAKE SURE YOU GO WITH A GUIDE AS THERE ARE ROCKS AND BIG HOLES DOTTED AROUND THE PLACE. MY WILD SKIING DAYS ARE OVER, SO PLENTY OF GOOD SKING FOR ME.

I was there in January 2025, its as good as I remember it, this is my second time. There is plenty of scope especially if you get the Grand Masif ski pass and not just Flaine. Brilliant for all levels of skiier. Its a more family based resort however still a few good spots for a few drinks. Overall I highly recommend to anyone.

Great short break, 3 really good days of riding with a good area to dodge the busy slopes near town and nice tree runs. Apres not really happening but good selection of restaurants and friendly staff. Great place for families or a short break focused on riding.
