Flaine has a huge number of wide open pistes of varing difficulty and it is always easy to find quiet runs with stunning views. I would say it is a good resort for beginners and intermediates. Advanced riders are catered for with some pistes being left ungroomed and a few Black runs. Infrastructure is good with lots of well placed lifts to make getting easy.
I have found the accomodation in Flaine is basic self catering studio apartments with bunk beds and sofa beds the norm, if you want more than that it gets very expensive for a family.
There isnt a huge number of eating out choices but we never had a bad meal out, if your in a group I would definately make reservations as everywhere fills up very quickly.
I would recommend Flaine as a great ski resort.

Very happy with the resort and the apartment that we stayed at. We were in a 6 bedroom apartment at Résidence premium
Les Terrasses d'Hélios. We were very happy with the apartment only done side was that it was end of season so there was not many restaurants or shops open across the full resort.

We did find that some of the restruant workers were slightly rude and not very helpful.

Late season trip with me and my boy. His first time on snow. We loved it. Accomodation was really nice. Staff helpful and friendly. Great spa and pool. Free coffee in the lobby. Could ski straight out onto slopes. We had a great time.

Late season trip with my boy (his first time on snow, my first in 30 years) was great. Perfect to introduce him to the Alps and he did brilliantly, tackling red runs by the end of the week. Accomodation was lovely, spa was great, staff were friendly, transfers easy, ski hire easy, atmosphere lovely, ESF ski school were great. Loved the way I could order bread and croissants for breakfast and get them delivered to reception. Views and snow at the top were still great. We loved it.

Excellent base for the grand massif with ski in ski out accommodation and plenty of lifts and close proximity to Geneva airport. Being at over 1800m meant the snow quality was great and the pistes were well groomed every morning. I stayed at MGM Alhena which was great and couldn’t be closer to the slopes. I’d say it’s more of a family resort with apres being fairly limited but still a good selection of restaurants and bars.

Really enjoyed Flaine and the rest of the Grand Massif. Some of the blue and red runs are of a similar standard. It's very easy to navigate around and the lifts are quick. Very few people while we were there so slopes were quiet. Very quick transfer times from Geneva airport.

Had a great time in Flaine over the Easter weekend. Snow was a bit slushy in the afternoons given how warm and late in the season it was but still had a great time in the mornings. Accommodation was easy and close to the slopes (100m) and variety of the blue and easy red runs were great for our level

Incredible week skiing, the snow was incredible, powder for days, tree lined slopes, well connected, and plenty of skiing for a week. We went with a group and all had the best time. Limited to no party vibe après ski but plenty of places for a beer on and off the piste

Great week in Flaine, stayed in basic accomodation but very close to the slopes. Had the best of the weather, warm to start the week, then dumped 70cm of snow!

5th time in Flaine, but 1st with the family. Great resort for a bit of everything, with easy links to the Grand Massif as long as its not windy!

Beginners areas are all really close to the resort centre, and there are some fun reds and blues off just one of the chairlifts, and more if you keep higher. Lifts are quick, and we rarely had to queue.

The 'town' (Forum) has some great eateries, covering everything from fondues to burgers, and if the suns out theres plenty of seating in front of the sledding area for the kids.

Flaines brutalist concrete buildings were designed to 'hide' against the cliffs, and its not 'chocolate box' pretty, but accept it for what it is and you'll find a high, family friendly resort close to Geneva that ticks all the boxes for most people.

Not many greens accessible in Flaine. The ones that were and some of the easier blues had long flat bits. All blues were really busy.
Not many restaurants so best to book but we didn’t have a bad meal. Flew to Chambéry which was closed for bad weather for our return so we had to go to Geneva instead. Had two white out days but great conditions otherwise. Flaine’s architecture is a bit concrete so doesn’t have that French charm but people were lovely and we enjoyed our week.

On busy days such as weekends and school holidays head over to the villages on the other side of the mountain where it is much quieter, all our included in the area lift pass.

Excellent for families. Several ski school options for drop off and pick up in convenient locations to whichever hotel or apartments you opt for. Free shuttle buses to the town centre if you are out of town. Brilliant runs with options for those more advanced and beginners, something to suit everyone. Lots of ski in /out accommodation options. Handy transfer from Geneva. No lift queues.
