Great base to explore the Grand Massif ski area from. Good lifts and plenty to explore, but not a lot of night life

Boys trip to Flaine. We stayed in the cheapest Southgate apartment we could find which was in madame vacancies in Flame Forêt.
I really liked the result the fact it’s only an hour and a half from Geneva is a big plus for me plus I love brutalist architecture and I was particularly impressed by the Picasso stuck slap bang in the middle of the resort. The top of the mountains isn’t as high as other places in the Alps topping out about 2600 m but that’s still plenty high enough to guarantee decent snow and the conditions were excellent. Would definitely recommend!

We come here every year. There is a wide range of slopes to choose from withiut having to go over to the other villages. Always beautiful and the snow is mostly okay beginning of March.

We decided on a weekend break to Flaine and i was very impressed.
I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family.

France Flaine was a very good resort to visit , not over crowded on the runs and a good big area to cover , lots of places to go off piste and we was lucky to have a lot of snow , not much in the way of apres ski and only a couple of restaurants in town but a great super market for self catering, good resort for beginners to intermediate to get about. I would go back.

Fantastic on piste accommodation made getting the kids to ski school so easy and hassle free. Kids skied with ESF and all had great instructions. Resort was very friendly. Limited apres ski and we found it difficult to find restaurants to accommodate a large group so definitely book meals out in advance. Plates were really well maintained and a large ski area suitable for all levels. We have been all over the alps and found Flaine to be excellent value fkr money. We'll be back!

90% of the pistes we're not groomed at all. Lumps, bumps seems to be the norm here. Not one run posted top to bottom, very odd.

Great little ‘flat’ in the big concrete hotels, 5 seconds away from the slopes. Would be there still if I could.

Traverse to Flaine from Le Grand Massif. Excellent slopes, incredible scenery. Some slopes busy at times, but enough lifts and slopes for everyone.

Flaine was a surprise. It was fairly quiet, loads of great blues and reds and some decent black runs. Snow quality was amazing.

I took my son to Flaine as a gentle return to skiing after dislocating his knee. So just 3 nights.
It was our first visit to Flaine, which we picked mostly due to its proximity to Geneva airport. We were lucky enough to arrive during the massive dump of snow in Jan 26. This did make the drive up the mountain interesting but we got there safe and sound.
We stayed in a hotel up the mountain on the slopes past Flaine Foret. This was great but had some logistical issues - we could only get there (with luggage) via snowmobile. This could only be done before or after the slopes were open. That said, the hotel was great, with amazing views.
The resort is famous for being ugly but it wasn't as bad as described and some of the building are now architectural landmarks.
The skiing was great, especially given the snow that had fallen. Very few lift queues and I think the worse that saw was 2 minutes. Plenty of entire runs to ourselves.
Food on the mountain was to a high standard and while obviously expensive was cheaper than some of the more famous resorts.
Flaine was a great place for a weekend stay.

Brilliant resort had such a great time and everything was in walking distance which was great. Slopes were also very well maintained.

Easy access from Geneva airport, have been many times to Flaine. Usually good snow, plenty of off piste. The main town is not very pretty but once you get up in the lofts that is all forgotten. Off piste gives you the chance to see amazing wildlife too.

Went over the (long) weekend 24-27 January. There was light snow overnight so most slopes weren't groomed leading to bumpy slopes later in the day (can be quite fun and/or intimidating depending on your skill level). The ski area is quite varied - I am an intermediate skier and the Grand Massif region suited me well, plenty of blues and reds.
Some nice restaurants on the slopes with great service but I advise to book, particularly if you're in a large(ish) group. Try the Pente a Joules, Le Chalet (top of Salon) and La Luge a Teran.
The period that I skied was quite busy, particulary on the 'access/homewards' slopes towards Flaine (Grand Vans was particularly crowded), Samoens, Morillon. If you want quieter slopes head off towards Samoens early and then then up the Flaine side for the afternoon.
We stayed at the RockyPop hotel, nice enough, friendly and helpful staff with decent spa area.
Ate at Le Michet, and Bauhaus, both of which I would recommend (althoug service at Bauhaus was very slow).
Overall I would go back, but will try to pick a quieter time if possible!

Got there with very low levels of snow but the open runs where groomed beautifully and the slopes were empty this time of yeat

Snow sure and amazing scenic bowl features. Lifts are fast and efficient. I have been in sunny April before. What a cracking place.

We had a lovely trip to Flaine and we were all impressed with the slopes. There isn’t a huge amount of village level restaurants and the high rise design wasn’t for us. We would likely return if the price was low but we would love to see a better range of apres.
