Alpe d'Huez Review Summary

Alpe d'Huez attracts a broad range of skiers from beginners to experts, with users frequently noting the extensive green and blue runs that make it particularly suitable for learners and families. The resort's high altitude and sunny aspect are regularly mentioned, though this can lead to variable snow conditions lower down and slushy afternoons in spring. Multiple reviewers highlight the long runs, especially the Sarenne black, and the efficient lift system connecting to satellite villages like Vaujany and Oz. Après-ski receives mixed feedback, with Folie Douce praised but some users noting limited options and early closing times. Food quality both on-mountain and in town is consistently well-regarded, though prices are noted as typical for a French resort.

A great ski resort for beginner / intermediate skiers! I found a lot more green/ blue runs compared to red/ black! Although saying that to take on Europe's longest black run is a must while at Alpe dHuez. We went during half term and found it a lot less busy than we thought it would be. My partner learnt to ski at this resort and its a wonderful place with plenty of runs to begin falling in love with skiing.

Alpe DHuez was a terrific resort to ski at. I have skied several resorts in the French alps and this had some of the most enjoyable skiing out of them. with iconic runs like the Sarenne and Le Tunnel I would definitely come back for. Apres ski was also a hit. La Folie douce never fails to be an epic time.

This resort is a great option for younger skiers. Good schools and a wide variety of slopes make it great to learn. It is busy, but good selection of runs can give you free time on the slopes.

A repeat visitor to Alpe dHuez, nice atmosphere, friendly, varied eating opportunities on the slopes and in resort. Not a huge ski area, compared to 3 Valleys, but still good varied skiing for all abilities.

Head a bit further from the main slopes and you can find some really quiet runs. La Forêt de Maronne (le petit paradis) Is great for a quiet lunch on the slopes at a very reasonable price.

Moose bar is good for apre.

One of the most famous ski resorts in France and with the most kilometres of slopes in the world. The slopes are well groomed and for all difficulties. The slopes from the summit are legendary: 'La Sarenne' and 'Le Tunnel'. Paradise for the most experienced skiers, but not only.

Auris is a good spot to go there is no one. Try to avoid the center during the ruch hours. You can go to vaujany, there is good snow and large slope to go fast. The slope Sarenne is very long and there isnt a lot of people so its really nice but it can be in cloud and in this case its a pain

Worked here for 3 months in 2022. Was a great experience and a brilliant resort. Range of pistes for various abilities, the off piste was great and fairly accessible. Good food options though a bit expensive. All in all an amazing resort that I dearly miss.

Went for new year. Stayed in a fabulous hotel at half board which was great for the price. Food was fantastic!!
So many pistes to choose from at all levels. Sadly some of the black runs never opened due to weather/ avalanche risk. But we got to do the longest black run from the top of Pic Blanc and it was wonderful!

The piste bashers did a fantastic job every night. Plenty of off piste powder and pillow runs to be had just next to the pistes, so if you dont want to venture off into the back country yet still want the chance to ski off piste, this resort has it in abundance!

Large amount of moguls which was great for my other half on skis. Not so fun on a board. But the huge sections of off piste powder were marvellous on the board.
Some of the lifts have cameras taking free pictures of you on lifts which is a nice touch.

Skiing down to Oz and Vaujany is wonderful and offers a more tree lined piste. Theres a huge choice of places to eat and a brilliant lift back to Alpe DHuez or options to go back to the top of the resort and ski back.
The pistes never felt crowded or too busy. There seemed to be a lot for families and children with a small childrens park and an adult park.

Theres an option to get a chopper ride to le deux Alpe for a day trip. The lift pass is included in your Alpe dhues pass but you have to pay about 80 for the ride. (Bargain if you ask me)

Overall the resort was brilliant. Probably my favourite one to date.
Im desperate to go back!

It's a resort that has it all!! There are lots of amazing green and blue slopes for beginners to learn on, one where wven the milka cow comes to visit every now and then. The ske school itself is vast and the instructors are spot on. Apres is the best I have experienced with so many different bars to go to and entertainment also. The best bar(only because of the slide to the toilet) is freeride :)

It is an expensive resort but not any more so than any other French ski resort so if you go out with peak season times(outwith feb half term etc) you actually get less busy slopes and get to experience the place more as it's less busy.

For the more adventurous ones, there's lots of off piste to be explored and even an option to do this with a guide if you were feeling unsure! The red runs I went on were vast and amazing, very very decent indeed, I only did one part of a black run by accident and slip slided the whole way down that section so I can't really rate that

Brilliant aki area with lots of runs to choose from for all the family and for all abilities to, I would highly recommend a trip out to Alp D'Huez

I spent a week staying in January and skied most of the ski area in alpe dhuez. Although pic du lac Blanc wasnt open there was still a significant amount of piste for all levels of skier. Other than up to pic Blanc all the lifts were open every day. The pistes were well groomed and not as busy as expected. And although the snow off piste was not fresh its clear to see with a fresh dump of snow the off piste skiing will be great. I was in a rented chalet which was lovely and all the other accommodations seemed to be high quality. Apres ski was also great. With lots of bars and restaurants spread across all of the areas including a great folie douce that was always lively. Overall its a great resort for every aspect of skiing whether a beginner of someone whos and advanced skier or if you want to party and a partial to apres ski.

It was a very nice resort, good range of slopes with options for all levels of skiers. Also has the longest black run in Europe which is a very nice run, with the option to skip the hardest part this gives more people options to do the run. The resort faces the sun so can get slushy towards the end of the day, this potentially could become an issue closer to Easter when it gets warmer. Very easily accessible as it is very close to Grenoble. The apres ski is very good with a few different options. Overall a very good resort.
