Alpe d'Huez Review Summary
Alpe d'Huez attracts a broad range of skiers from beginners to experts, with users frequently noting the extensive green and blue runs that make it particularly suitable for learners and families. The resort's high altitude and sunny aspect are regularly mentioned, though this can lead to variable snow conditions lower down and slushy afternoons in spring. Multiple reviewers highlight the long runs, especially the Sarenne black, and the efficient lift system connecting to satellite villages like Vaujany and Oz. Après-ski receives mixed feedback, with Folie Douce praised but some users noting limited options and early closing times. Food quality both on-mountain and in town is consistently well-regarded, though prices are noted as typical for a French resort.

So many pistes to choose from at all levels. Sadly some of the black runs never opened due to weather/ avalanche risk. But we got to do the longest black run from the top of Pic Blanc and it was wonderful!
The piste bashers did a fantastic job every night. Plenty of off piste powder and pillow runs to be had just next to the pistes, so if you dont want to venture off into the back country yet still want the chance to ski off piste, this resort has it in abundance!
Large amount of moguls which was great for my other half on skis. Not so fun on a board. But the huge sections of off piste powder were marvellous on the board.
Some of the lifts have cameras taking free pictures of you on lifts which is a nice touch.
Skiing down to Oz and Vaujany is wonderful and offers a more tree lined piste. Theres a huge choice of places to eat and a brilliant lift back to Alpe DHuez or options to go back to the top of the resort and ski back.
The pistes never felt crowded or too busy. There seemed to be a lot for families and children with a small childrens park and an adult park.
Theres an option to get a chopper ride to le deux Alpe for a day trip. The lift pass is included in your Alpe dhues pass but you have to pay about 80 for the ride. (Bargain if you ask me)
Overall the resort was brilliant. Probably my favourite one to date.
Im desperate to go back!
It is an expensive resort but not any more so than any other French ski resort so if you go out with peak season times(outwith feb half term etc) you actually get less busy slopes and get to experience the place more as it's less busy.
For the more adventurous ones, there's lots of off piste to be explored and even an option to do this with a guide if you were feeling unsure! The red runs I went on were vast and amazing, very very decent indeed, I only did one part of a black run by accident and slip slided the whole way down that section so I can't really rate that
Brilliant aki area with lots of runs to choose from for all the family and for all abilities to, I would highly recommend a trip out to Alp D'Huez
