Alpe d'Huez Review Summary

Alpe d'Huez attracts a broad range of skiers from beginners to experts, with users frequently noting the extensive green and blue runs that make it particularly suitable for learners and families. The resort's high altitude and sunny aspect are regularly mentioned, though this can lead to variable snow conditions lower down and slushy afternoons in spring. Multiple reviewers highlight the long runs, especially the Sarenne black, and the efficient lift system connecting to satellite villages like Vaujany and Oz. Après-ski receives mixed feedback, with Folie Douce praised but some users noting limited options and early closing times. Food quality both on-mountain and in town is consistently well-regarded, though prices are noted as typical for a French resort.

Good resort easy to recommend but not one of my favourites. For a resort of it's size it feels small and lacks a sense of exploration . Has good skiing for all abilities and types of skiers. Has something for everyone on and off the slopes. Unfortunately on my two visits snow reliability wasn't great so I was limited to the piste. We chose the resort for it's reputation of snow reliability but was unfortunately unlucky on both occasions.

Alpe DHUEZ is a lovely resort great for families! Fast and accessible lifts make skiing with family and friends across the mountain, easy. For the more advanced skiers, the top of the resort also has some great advanced runs with scenic views. Great apres vibe and also some decent places to eat.

My favourite French resort for families.
Excellent choice of green and blue runs with easy routes back to resort from all approaches.
Fun kids runs and a good park for them to start in.
The town has plenty of food options for all budgets and lots to offer as alternatives to skiing - my kids loved the indoor sports centre with the rope maze.
It ticks all the boxes and the cherry on top is that its south facing so youll get the best of any sun available.

Alpe DHuez has a great varying terrain. It has the longest black run in the Alpes. The Apres at Folie is also great fun. The lower slopes are also beginner friendly which makes it great for families. Some accommodations can be a little bit of a walk from the slopes but other than that is a great result. The night life is also great - would definitely recommend a trip to Smithys!

The skiing is brilliant, apres is great, the town itself has lots to do including ice skating, and swimming which are both included in your lift pass. The off piste is especially fun across the mountain

This was the perfect experience for the family as a christmas present last year! we are not big skiiers but thought it would be a bit of fun - and it was perfect! We were guided perfectly so that we could have a fun and enjoyable experience, and by the end of it we all felt like much more confident skiiers. This resort in particular was great for the whole family because the food available was exquisite and was very reasonably priced. overall , i would totally recommend this resort to anyone, but in particular families who want to be able to have a getaway and tick something off their bucket lists!
