What Skiers Say About Borovets

Borovets is consistently described as a budget-friendly resort that particularly suits beginners and families, with multiple reviewers praising the ski schools and instructors. The ski area is small, with most intermediate skiers able to cover all runs within 2-3 days, and advanced skiers often find limited terrain. Value for money is a recurring theme, though several reviewers note prices have increased since Bulgaria adopted the Euro. Snow conditions are variable, with the resort relying heavily on snow cannons, and late-season visits often see limited piste availability and slushy conditions. The resort has a lively nightlife with cheap bars and restaurants, though some reviewers mention the prevalence of strip clubs as a family concern.

Good for beginners and pretty cheap food and drink on the slopes.Quickly run out of runs.We went for 2 consecutive years.Stayed at the Rila which is great, but quite expensive. Old lifts. Limited runs means gets super busy at busy times of year.

Fairly good runs through although better at the top of the mountain. Some long flat portions that arent the best for snowboarding. But fantastic apres ski and all food and drink is so reasonable and very friendly vibe from everyone we met.

Borovets has some really great simple slopes for the not so experienced skier. I wouldnt say its for an expert skier, but there is plenty for others in a week away. Some meandering trails which are worth a go, and Musala rises to nearly 3000m high. The lifts have mostly been upgraded and the slope grooming is a good as anywhere. The night life is good with very cozy open log fires in abundance. Food can be very good, ask around to ensure you are getting the best quality, like everywhere, there are some poor establishments. The main attraction is the cost. You will save huge compared to the Alps. Happy skiing/boarding.

Borovets is a really good ski option for beginner and intermediate skiers. The ski school is really good value and the runs are good for experienced skiers as well as beginners. There are some great restaurants and bars on the mountain and some fun bars down the bottom of the slopes. Overall, a really fun experience and great value for money.

Opted for Borovets as a cost effective way to go skiing. As it was my first time it was the perfect place to go. Lovely place & equally lovely people. Would certainly go back.

It is the highest resort in Bulgaria and skiing at the very top is amazing, however if there is a strong wind these are often closed. There are three really
Long red runs (yastrebets 1-3) for advanced skiers and a blue / green zone at Martinivi Baraja for beginners. The resort is really close to Sofia airport. There are a few options for apres ski but more importantly there are lots of amazing restaurants.

I love riding at Borovets as its a family resort, quiet but also gets busy around the weekends. Very affordable compared to the UK and has easy slopes for beginners like me. Id love to be able to get to the long difficult slopes one day, but I totally recommend Borovets to families and groups of friends who are looking for a great holiday at a reasonable price.

I came to this resort as a beginner and did not know any better having never skid anywhere else.
I had a fantastic time. It was great to learn somewhere so affordable and makes going on a yearly trip with colleagues so accessible due to the price.
I found that there were plenty of blue and green runs to learn on, however when I was there, there was no way of skiing the entire mountain down using only blue and greens. If you are not confident enough for reds, you will need to take the gondola down from the top.

This was no luxury trip, but the people were friendly, the slopes were lots of fun, and the beers were so cheap. I am going back again this year with colleagues to do it all again!

Good for beginners but limited terrain and the mountains arent linked with the antiquated lift system so you have to walk if you want to ride both areas.

Not a big resort but great prices when there's snow the slopes are great! We were lucky this year and had amazing snow and snowboarded every day for 2 weeks, amazing holiday! Good options for accommodation depending on what you're looking for - Borovets for hotels right by all the bars and easier slopes, Samokov nearby for very cheap options, or Yastrebets higher up in the mountain to be closer to emptier, harder slopes and a bit more secluded and pricey. Easy to learn the slope map and not need to check it while you ski. Overall great value for money and good atmosphere. Only big downside is if the weather conditions aren't great and there isn't enough snow, there aren't that many snow cannons to make up for it, so you have to come at the right time which is hard to judge when booking in advance. But we had an amazing season!

The hotel we stayed in was very well put together and the hospitality was great. The nightlife is also really fun with the bars being really cheap and friendly.

Limited snowfall made it tricky to manage but they sure knew how to make the most of what they had. Caused issues like runs being closed so was a little repetitive but that didn't bother us. We learnt so much at ski school and had an awesome time. Kids too. Food was a great standard in hotel and nearby restaurants. Would love to ski again!

Recently went for Christmas for the Second time there. So much snow the resort had no power so lifts didnt work all the time. Amazing snow though! Nice easy runs both sides. Cute little town. Not a huge choice in food. Hunters restaurant was great. Lots of stray friendly dogs around, great for photos.
All clean and tidy, well looked after. Friendly locals. Ive really enjoyed it both times. Small resort. But good value. Airb&b once and hotel the second time. Would hotel again. Traventuria good for lift pass. 144 for 3 days lift pass. Went alone and felt really safe.
