What Skiers Say About Borovets
Borovets is consistently described as a budget-friendly resort that particularly suits beginners and families, with multiple reviewers praising the ski schools and instructors. The ski area is small, with most intermediate skiers able to cover all runs within 2-3 days, and advanced skiers often find limited terrain. Value for money is a recurring theme, though several reviewers note prices have increased since Bulgaria adopted the Euro. Snow conditions are variable, with the resort relying heavily on snow cannons, and late-season visits often see limited piste availability and slushy conditions. The resort has a lively nightlife with cheap bars and restaurants, though some reviewers mention the prevalence of strip clubs as a family concern.

The ski school and ease of getting to the slopes are both great. But what it lacks from is a variety of more advanced slopes, so if you’re a more advanced skier it may not be for you.
The apres are ok. Not a huge apres atmosphere but plenty of bars to enjoy.
It has become more expensive of recent years as well. So isn’t the cheap alternative that it used to be.
Would I go back, yes. Would I rush back, probably not.
Resort is fairly small but perfect size for beginners. Also great for beginners as has lots of green and easy blue runs, and great ski schools.
Really cheap apres, lots of small bars/pubs at the bottom of the slopes (nothing at the top).
The people were very friendly :)
The apres ski and night life was very good too. There are lots of pubs and bars in town which are super cheap, however there is not the 'magical' feel like resorts in the Alps have. It feels quite purpose built, however it definitely does the job for a cheap ski break.
I would definitely recommend Borovets to anyone looking for a cheap ski holiday. There are not loads of slopes - I did everything in about 2.5 days, but for beginners it is great. I have also been told the queues are insane in peak season, so make sure to go outside of these times.
