What Skiers Say About Borovets

Borovets is consistently described as a budget-friendly resort that particularly suits beginners and families, with multiple reviewers praising the ski schools and instructors. The ski area is small, with most intermediate skiers able to cover all runs within 2-3 days, and advanced skiers often find limited terrain. Value for money is a recurring theme, though several reviewers note prices have increased since Bulgaria adopted the Euro. Snow conditions are variable, with the resort relying heavily on snow cannons, and late-season visits often see limited piste availability and slushy conditions. The resort has a lively nightlife with cheap bars and restaurants, though some reviewers mention the prevalence of strip clubs as a family concern.

Visited a few times, as a teenager and now as an adult, relaxed resort that doesn’t take long to get around (except the gondola queue at peak time), easy to meet after ski school, great for families and would be good for beginners as good value for money.

Borovets mostly has wide pistes. Good for beginners and intermediate ski/snowboarders. The apres village is good fun. If you are looking for a quite few drinks, you can get that. If you are looking for a party, you can find that too. The lifts are usable if maybe a bit outdated. I also think that the snow can be a bit hit or miss but it was a hit when I was there. Overall it's a great resort and fantastic value for money.

The resort was good in general.
The main ones are good but venture upto the higher peaks for more challenging runs.
Theres a lot of novices who aren’t good on main green slopes. Likely due to the cost but the enough red and blue slopes to avoid them.

The town is fantastic with slots of bars and restaurants all serving amazing food.

Fantastic ski schools. I have used three here. Lovely contained ski areas and fantastic for families. We usually go half board with kids and have found the food to be great. Eating out is cheap and the food quality is fantastic. The raspberry wine isn’t to be missed!
Theres not much in the way of apres ski activities other than the bars.
Hotel Samokov does have some fantastic facilities though for families and is our favourite place to stay.

Had an amazing budget friendly holiday late February! All runs open and groomed and a good variety for a long weekend!
You would maybe get bored of repetitive runs if your were there for a full week!
Good food and lots of bars!

We went with another family of three and it was a brilliant beginner resort. Although it was busy during our stay everything ran smoothly and there was plenty of snow. The night skiing is a nice touch for the guys and girls who want to get on and open up on freshly groomed piest although the floodlit area isn’t huge it’s good for a few flat out runs.

The kids loved the ease of everything with some nice greens and blue of varying surroundings it was ideal. We’re heading back in a few weeks.

I think the value for money is one of its best qualities, staying at Rila and with 1/2 lessons each day you’re looking around £1500 for the week all in.

Perfect for your first couple times on the snow to build confidence and not break the bank.

Little snow and warm weather left few slopes open and busy runs. Weather was the key factor - this time last year there was a meter of snow. With more runs open this resort woeful be great value - however costs have increased with Bulgaria moving to the Euro.

Try to stay in a hotel that includes ski rental. Don't have too go searching for food and pubs all just outside.

We had such a fantastic time in Borovets! We wanted to try somewhere a bit cheaper than skiing in France and thought this would be a great option. The area is somewhat small but we had plenty and did not get bored after five days of skiing. We stayed in a lovely apartment about a ten minute walk from the slopes but we had a locker at a nearby rental place so we didn’t need to carry our skis and boots back with us. The food and drinks on the slope was very cheap and there were lots of great places for drinking especially. The quality of the food wasn’t always like what you would expect in other resorts, but the price was very low so that made up for it. Overall, I’d highly recommend!

Only a few good runs open when we went. No snow for a month so reliant on fake snow. Mid Feb. Would have been better with good snow cover, bars and food were ok. Budget skiing.

Me and my family have been going borovets for a few years now, it’s a lovely resort for new skiers/boarders with easy to use lifts and lots of varied levels of slopes. Resort is small so good for families with some very scenic routes, however this makes runs from top to bottom sort and can get boring if you go every year. Owners of bars and restaurants are typically very friendly and provide a lovely atmosphere. Overall a nice resort however if you are more advanced bigger resorts might suit you better.

Great trip for my intermediate partner and i, a beginner. I had a morning ski lesson to revise the basics which was great. The instructor was patient and helpful. Small resort but lots of bars and restaurants to keep you entertained for a week. We stayed at Rila which was right at the slopes - it was incredible and great value.
