What Skiers Say About Borovets

Borovets is consistently described as a budget-friendly resort that particularly suits beginners and families, with multiple reviewers praising the ski schools and instructors. The ski area is small, with most intermediate skiers able to cover all runs within 2-3 days, and advanced skiers often find limited terrain. Value for money is a recurring theme, though several reviewers note prices have increased since Bulgaria adopted the Euro. Snow conditions are variable, with the resort relying heavily on snow cannons, and late-season visits often see limited piste availability and slushy conditions. The resort has a lively nightlife with cheap bars and restaurants, though some reviewers mention the prevalence of strip clubs as a family concern.

This was my first ski trip but my kids and husband are experienced skiers. We found borovets perfect for that dynamic. Lots of nursery slopes and blues for me but plenty to keep them occupied. It was easy to meet up at lunch and the apre was fun although mostly subdued. Great food but restaurants were heaving at lunchtime. Would revisit and recommend to a family with teens like us.

I have been snowboarding in Bulgaria for many years, you get a lot for your money and there are any steep runs for the more proficient riders. I wish the park was bigger and that there were more moguls but the off piste runs are really good and easy to get to with only a short walk from the lifts.

Brilliant place to learn to ski. Instructors are brilliant. Would definitely go back, already second time in borovets. Stayed in hotel lion, great hotel with good food, regular shuttle into centre. Ski area reasonable size with good mix of runs, weather was also brilliant, loads of snow in January

Borovets was a great option for me to learn to ski. Lots of blue runs to choose from and some harder ones which felt like reds. The tree lined slopes were gorgeous. Only one good option for apres if you like partying and thats black tiger at the bottom of the nursery slope - dancing on tables etc! Rila hotel terrace was nice for a more classy apres vibe but still good music.

My family come back to Borovets every year, this year 25 of us went with children of all ages from 2 - 13. There are slopes to suits all levels of skiers. Instructors part of a group of private instructors for one to ones who are really reasonably priced. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the slopes and in the area. We stay at the Rila Hotel everytime and cannot fault it.

Personally, I would avoid to go skiing in Bulgaria. The hotel wasn't very clean, very old-fashioned, needs updating. We didn't like the food either. Overall, overpriced for what you get.

Went on a couples holiday. Was a good first time ski trip. Snow wasn't the best when we went in January 3rd a few years ago so lots of lifts was closed. Apres was fun and all in one strip. Stayed at hotel rila that was lovley but buffet food. The swimming pool area was nice aswell. Perfect for a beginner ski trip or going with young kids learning to ski defo worth a go and great value for money. View on the top terrace having a drink is lovley.

Had a great week skiing/ snowboarding , had a lovely selection of great foodWould recommend The green king, victoria and karina. tried all the food stops but these were best and at a reasonable valueborovets gardens was a good place to stay as its 4 minute walk to the bottom of the slopeswould recommend to try the local dished and get travel insurance as anything can happen. Borovets is cheap and cheerful but the people are quite blunt so don't expect fairy tale language during your stay

It was magical experience to be there - Borovets. The nature is amazing, beautiful places to skiing and snowboarding. You can enjoy other winter entertainments too- day or evenings time. Amazing food restaurants and nights life. There is a lot for everyone, even for those not very sporty. There are spa centers - for example Hotel Rila and Samokov you can stay in the hot tub jacuzzi and watch people skiing day and night front of you.I highly recommend to visit Borovets.Another winter resorts very popular are Pamporovo and Bansko. They all will be very happy experience for you!

Better for nightlife than skiing. Some good runs, but minimal up mountain pieste ski restaurants and cafes. Most are at the bottom by the main lifts. Lots of strip clubs and brothels in the evening which are fun but less so for families. Skiing can be good if enough snow. All really depends on snow forecast if you will enjoy skiing this resort.
