What Skiers Say About Borovets

Borovets is consistently described as a budget-friendly resort that particularly suits beginners and families, with multiple reviewers praising the ski schools and instructors. The ski area is small, with most intermediate skiers able to cover all runs within 2-3 days, and advanced skiers often find limited terrain. Value for money is a recurring theme, though several reviewers note prices have increased since Bulgaria adopted the Euro. Snow conditions are variable, with the resort relying heavily on snow cannons, and late-season visits often see limited piste availability and slushy conditions. The resort has a lively nightlife with cheap bars and restaurants, though some reviewers mention the prevalence of strip clubs as a family concern.

In Borovetts, they were closing the season early due to the lack of snow, so go prior to March. A few runs and lifts were closed due to this. Ski conditions were hard but the runs were great.

Area was fantastic, lots to do of a night time. Hotels were good with nice facilities. Ski school was ok, our instructor wasn’t particularly interested or helping us too much, but others we spoke to had a great time and learnt well.
Thoroughly enjoyed our trip as a first timer! I would say it’s good for an extremely cost effective trip and first timer/ family resort. Although we met many people who come back time and time again.

My first skiing trip (complete novice) and Borovets did not disappoint.
It is a small resort and can get busy at peak times, however our instructor showed us around and had me doing my first black run after 2 days of skiing

Borovets is a brilliant family resort for beginners and intermediate skiers or boarders as well as if you’ve got non-skiing/boarding members of the party as they can see you ski without the need for a lift pass. It is quite limited in size but it offers a brilliant value holiday and some good skiing. I’ve been 5 times so I think that speaks for itself and my son at the age of 4 learnt to ski here.

This was my second time at Borovets. It’s a good resort for first timers, as there are many greens and blues that can be skied, however when progressing into the intermediate and advanced stages it starts to get a little frustrating. It was probably the time of year, but the resort was packed when I was there, most slopes were far too crowded to have much fun. At night the restaurants are brilliant though, I went to a different restaurant each night and I honestly can’t say I disliked any of them. Nightlife is also good, there’s a few select bars that seem to get the most attention (BJs, Jacks, Black tiger etc)

Boarding/ Skiing is good and food is excellent, Taxi to the piste is best although there are shared minibus and the gondola, which always seems to be too busy to wait for. Night time entertainment is there for all tastes.

Ski area was very small and by lunchtime most of them would be mashed up.

30 minute gondola to get up to the mountain was slow and busy.

Food around the resort was very poor.

Great little resort, small but plenty of off piste/lift runs to keep things interesting. Apres is different to the Alps, but has it's own charm. Variety of restaurants is great and Bulgarian cuisine is incredible.
