What Skiers Say About Borovets

Borovets is consistently described as a budget-friendly resort that particularly suits beginners and families, with multiple reviewers praising the ski schools and instructors. The ski area is small, with most intermediate skiers able to cover all runs within 2-3 days, and advanced skiers often find limited terrain. Value for money is a recurring theme, though several reviewers note prices have increased since Bulgaria adopted the Euro. Snow conditions are variable, with the resort relying heavily on snow cannons, and late-season visits often see limited piste availability and slushy conditions. The resort has a lively nightlife with cheap bars and restaurants, though some reviewers mention the prevalence of strip clubs as a family concern.

I have been to Borovets twice when learning in my teens and it was perfect - and cheap to learn. By now i see its not as affordable as it used to be and I would question if it was value for money by now. Snow conditions aren't great on the whole , lifts are old, and the gondola can close in high winds closing a big part of the resort. Accommodation is basic as wel as the food. Ski adre is very small and can be completed in a day.

Brilliant time last year and are going back in the new year.

I went with a mixed skill group and the ski instructors were really good. I went with beginner as it was my first time skiing in 5 years.

Highly recommend for beginners and intermediate

Ski slopes so easy to access.

Very good for beginners, intermediate skiers.

Probably not so good for advanced skiers, as there are limited slopes.

Good atmosphere for apres. And nightlife is pretty good as well, if your able to stay awake for it.

Hotels around the area can be a bit hit and miss but some are very nice.

Would definitely go back.

Great friendly ski resort for beginner and intermediate skiers. There are lots of hotels, bars and restaurants within the town itself all of which are well priced.

I found it to be a great place to learn to Ski as there are plenty of green and blue routes. Moving up to intermediate there are some longer red runs available. The ski lifts are all quick and reliable and a free shuttle bus service can take you to one of the ski lifts.

More advanced Skiers have limited black runs to use amd a very small amount of off piste.

A great family friendly resort at a budget skiing price. 2 hours of 1:1 skiing tuition for just over £60!

If you are a more experienced skier looking only for reds and blacks then this probably isnt the resort for you. But if you are a family with kids looking to learn you cant go wrong here.

If youre a little more adventurous you can do it without a package and book flights hotels and accommodation on your own which again makes it cheaper.

Overall loved the resort, loved the friendly people and above all, loved the price!

Good resort for cheap skiing and night skiing. Prices have been hiked in last few years making it just as expensive as an alps resort

For my first ever ski trip Borovets could not have been a better place to go. I did three days of ski school with an excellent instructor and skied the remaining two days with my boyfriend and had enough confidence to do red and black runs by the end of the week. The skiing was super fun, hire shops were helpful and friendly, there was never queues for the lifts and it was generally very enjoyable. The hotel was exceptional, the food was so good in the hotel we didnt eat out in the evenings, only at lunchtimes with the biggest, most comfortable bed I have ever seen! Would 100% recommend, especially for beginners or people on a budget!

Some nice slopes but overall extremely overrated resort. Very expensive compared to much bigger and better ones in Europe, very crowded so you need to wait on lifts half of the day. Prices on slopes are incredibly high compared to local shop (appreciate there should be a mark up but not a coffee for 7). Great ski schools as the teachers are good professionals but overall for the price Id rather go to any other resort.

To be honest I was dreading going, wed booked at half term something I always tried to avoid but this time we had no option. However I was pleasantly surprised, it was busy but as long as you got to the gondola early and stayed up the mountain it was fine, great quality runs, more of an intermediate resort Id say , lots of reds. Great value for money to eat and drink out which made a change from the sitting in your room in France with a supermarket wine, we could actually go out and not come back skint. Id go again but would try to avoid the peak weeks as it can get busy at the main lift stations if you time it wrong

Great resort for a budget family friendly trip. Both mountains return to the same town so makes it easier to meet up when in groups. Gondola runs are larger and quieter

Great resort for both beginners and intermediates, though possibly less so for more experienced skiers and boarders.

Good selection of bars and restaurants, but all quite simple - this is not the place for glitz and glamour.

Borovetz offers good value for money but, like everywhere else, it is getting a little more expensive.

I have skied in Borovets a few times over a number of years. The resort is compact and lively.

It can be hit and miss on snow quality early and late season, but dont let that put you off.

The resort if ideal for groups of friends looking to enjoy apres ski at an affordable price.

The Rila side of the resort is very busy, with all the majority of ski schools concentrated in this area.

The Yastrabets runs are, in my opinion, by far the best runs in the resort. Fairly long, wide, treelined slopes that offer good skiing for advanced skiers.

Maybe not the glamour of the Alps, but a very good value for money resort.

We went to Borovets at the end of the season and had a day of slush, a day of ice and then a day of powder. Fun skiing but limited number of runs for intermediate. Apres ski and restaurants are great and good value for money.
