What Skiers Say About Borovets

Borovets is consistently described as a budget-friendly resort that particularly suits beginners and families, with multiple reviewers praising the ski schools and instructors. The ski area is small, with most intermediate skiers able to cover all runs within 2-3 days, and advanced skiers often find limited terrain. Value for money is a recurring theme, though several reviewers note prices have increased since Bulgaria adopted the Euro. Snow conditions are variable, with the resort relying heavily on snow cannons, and late-season visits often see limited piste availability and slushy conditions. The resort has a lively nightlife with cheap bars and restaurants, though some reviewers mention the prevalence of strip clubs as a family concern.

Went for a few days last minute in February having only experienced French ski resorts prior to this so didnt know what to expect. It was obviously a lot smaller compared to the French alps. The runs are good but can get overcrowded when one side gets shut fun and can be queuing for 30 mins while everyone filters through. However, everybody was friendly didnt feel like I was being judged on my ability, all the restaurants were very welcoming and served good meals all day. Will definitely be coming back some day.

Had a really great time, wonderful atmosphere, didnt feel confident enough to go night skiing so cant comment on that but had fresh powder day 1 and it was great. Towards the end no more snow came down so a little icy but cant be helped. Only bad thing I can say is when you first go in getting your skis is a bit of a long task and not organised very well, took a long time and would recommend getting there early.

Borovets is an amazing report for beginners and anyone who is coming back to skiing! - the latter was me, I had a break of around 25 years!
Apre ski is great, bars and restaurants of all kinds to choose from, many with entertainment or sports bars. Good selection of foods from different countries.
A great variety of runs, there are greens with button lifts for beginners, with bars available when the bruises or confidence needs a little massage, around the rest of the Rila or Gondola sides there are many more runs the majority are blue & red, with a few challenging blacks.
None of the runs are particularly long so you do spend a fair bit of time either queuing or on the ski lifts!

Borovets, Bulgaria is a great budget, beginner/intermediate resort. The locals are friendly and love a good chat, the nightlife can get wild and the drinks are cheap! The ski schools are fairly well put together with a few nice instructors. There was a healthy mix of skiers and boarders and although some of the slopes were shut due to a lack of snow. There was still plenty to do and we had a great time perfecting the routes me and my lot were working on.

A great time was had - little busier than we would have liked. It being a cheaper-than-usual resort really meant that there felt like more people than im used to queuing up for the lifts. Really enjoyed it overall - great for intermediate riders

Its a great resort for first time skiers has a lot of easy runs and is a good way to get a feel for the mountain I stayed in rila which is a ski in ski out hotel which was a great hotel clean and the staff were helpful I wouldnt advise advanced skiers to come here its more a beginners place and not much off piste but the main slopes are groomed and chair lift is very quick and it also offers night skiing when the piste and in good condition

if your looking for quality skiing for a very low price, you wont find it. However this comes very close. When the slopes arent loaded up with people its an amazing ride especially after snowfall, the best lift to go to is the yasterbets gondola as this is the highest point in the resort and the quietest, some say its because its awful but in reality its the best area for riding however a 5-6 minute walk from the main lifts, so many lazy people decided to avoid this part, all the better for us i guess. If you want value for money Rila is not it overpriced for Bulgaria, at that point just go to Austria. The best value for money is Iglika Palace nice staff most of the time, great sauna etc., and cheap drinks. Cheap drinks are in abundance at borovets, youll find it hard to get a pint for more than 5. Great bar is next to sangria was called bobbys bar but now changed because if youre looking for quality skiing for a very low price, you wont find it. However this comes very close. Be cautious of the snow blowers however as they can sometimes cause whiteouts which is quite annoying.
