Söll attracts primarily intermediate and advanced skiers who appreciate the extensive SkiWelt area spanning 280km of connected pistes across multiple villages. Users consistently mention friendly locals, well-maintained slopes, modern lift infrastructure, and good value mountain restaurants. The après-ski scene is described as quieter than in previous years, though several bars remain popular. TLDR: beautiful, quiet Austrian village that offers great skiing in a very modern resort.

I've been to Söll a number of times. Söll itself is a small, beautiful, slow paced village, that has everything you need. There are a number of bars and restaurants in the centre, including an Irish bar that I spend most evenings in.

Although the village is fairly quiet, restaurants can get booked up, so it's worth reserving a table somewhere in the morning if you want to eat out that night. I highly recommend trying steak house Auf da Mühle. The decor, food and service is fantastic.

The one main gondola station in Söll that takes you on to the Skiwelt is a short 5-10minute walk from the village centre. You can also take one of the free ski buses that loop the village every few minutes as well. The gondola is super modern and very efficient, which sets the theme for the rest of the skiwelt.

The Skiwelt offers something for everyone, and is therefore considered the perfect destination for a family ski holiday, I however have always been with friends here. Although it's considered great for families, don't underestimate the skiing here! There are plenty of blues, reds, blacks and even off piste to be taken on. There is a ski park in Brixental, however if you want to get there from Söll and have time to enjoy it, you'll need to leave early. It takes around 2 hours to navigate from Söll to Brixental, skiing across two peaks along the way. Navigating the skiwelt is the hardest thing about skiing here. Thr Skiwelt is a huge area and it's difficult to find your way if you've never been before. I suggest studying the map beforehand, planning a route from A to B and noting down the slope numbers to help you get there. Although the sign posting is OK on the mountain, it is very easy to miss a turn and have to loop back on yourself. If this happens, just have fun with it, EVERYONE has been lost in the Skiwelt at some point.

If you ever get caught in a storm, take shelter in a nearby lodge. There are loads, and I mean loads of lodges, bars and restaurants on the mountain. All of them are family run and actually offer good value, quality food and drink. Literally just pick any of them, you can't go wrong.

Söll itself may not be perfect for absolute beginners to stay in. This is because there are only two home runs back in to the valley at the end of the day. One is a blue, and one is a challenging red. The blue, although quite flat is very narrow and cuts between the tree line, which can make it difficult for beginners to turn and control their speed on. The red is a good challenge for anyone, the gradient is steep in places and by the end of the day the snow conditions create quite the playground. That being said, when you've done it once, you'll be fine and enjoy more and more each time. Don't let this put you off if you're a beginner, just be aware and ready for a laugh!

Loved Söll and the whole of the vast ski welt area. The village itself is quieter now than it was ten years ago but still has a few apres ski bars. Lots of lovely food options.
The villagers are generally lovely and very welcoming.
I would say the ski welt area is more suited to intermediate skiers and the mountain at the top of the soll gondola is definitely more suited for intermediates.

I went in March so the snow wasnt the best but they did their best to keep the mountain going. The apres ski wasn't great at all most places had closed for the season. But we went with family so we all have a great time and would go back because it seams like it would be better earlier in the year

Huge number of runs in the Skiwelt area and new high speed lifts are the norm. Great for cruising reds in Soll, enough blues for a first week beginner but intermediates would be better in Scheffau as you cant travel around without going on reds. Some steep groomed blacks for a good challenge. Not many unpisted runs, some good ski routes for advanced skiers with enough snow cover.

Not the highest altitude so can struggle when theres less snow with runs down to the valley. Its not the easiest to travel around the different villages, sometimes 2 or 3 runs and lifts are needed.

Lots of excellent and reasonably priced mountain huts with Austrian food and a good few apres bars. The village has a good variety of bars, restaurants and hotels. Most hotels do good half-board. The Irish pub the Whiskey Muhle is great and has live music every day.

The Skiwelt area is vast and very well serviced . In one pass you can ski six resorts and can ski too and from all and no need to get a bus anywhere . If you get the Allstar pass you can also ski Kitzbuhel.

We went mid March 2024 so the snow wasnt great, others we spoke to had been that time of year and it had always been better. It was too warm to make snow so we made the most of the runs that were open and they seemed efficient at keeping things running as best they could, it also meant it was quieter than expected there are many options for apres but we dont feel we got to experience that really! Hotels are good with lots of options the bus runs efficiently along with ski/boot hire in resort and lockers available just off the slope at the bottom (slope wasnt open but gondola brings you down) overall still a good holiday but could have been better conditions it was the worst we have know it!

I have skied in this resort for many years. One of the reasons I return is because of the friendliness of the locals and the fact that I have found an absolutely fabulous hotel where nothing is to much trouble. There is a good variety of slopes for all abilities as the skiwald region has a vast integrated lift system that can take skiing throughout the area (to appreciate the extent if you haven't been before) you need to sudy the piste map. I no longer ski as hard and fast as I used to (I am now seventy) but there is still plenty for me

Pretty town with a few apres places, it was really quiet late in the season though. Nice big ski area, quite a few long green runs to get around the mountains- a bit slow for snowboarders! Had an amazing powder day with untouched tree runs though, and lots of fun home runs down to visit the other villages in the area.
