Great ski area for a mix of abilities and very easy to navigate the ski area to to the bowl layout of the mountain.
Very well maintained and good quality lifts and buildings.

Having been their twice, me & friends have enjoyed the slopes, scenery and the great apres ski :-) Its not the biggest resort, but it makes up for in spades.

Access to the bottom chairlift was excellent. All of the left were easily accessible. As with all Austrian resorts the snow levels were good which made for some decent powder days. Our skiing ski out accommodation was excellent in its appearance quality and facilities which overall led to a excellent Weeks snowboarding.

Obviously Gamsleiten 2 is the absolute highlight of the resort!
The other runs tend to get busy but the lift service is great.
Eating on piste can get stressful from time to time and there often is no table service.
Apres ski is amazing and its a beautiful resort!!!!

I've visited Obertauern with family for 10+ years, having learned to ski at Skischule Top and continuing to holiday there as an adult.
The slopes are excellent for all ages, there is a good variety of ski schools for different budgets.
There are few black runs across the resort, but the Gamsleiten II run is one of the steepest in the Alps- great for a challenge. The black runs are sometimes not groomed at the same frequency as the reds/blues, usually owing to weather, however they are still maintained well and are very quiet to ski on. Most of the ski area is slopes, there is limited off-piste/forest skiing area.
Accommodation prices vary but are reasonably priced for the Alps and the resort altitude, with lots of options which are straight to piste. The apres scene is a little quiet, there aren't many large bars or clubs and only one or two main venues which stay open late.
Overall, great resort with lots of good memories!

I have been to obertauern many times and we always return for its fantastic food and bowl shaped resort, so no matter where you end up you can always ski down into the town in the centre

Lovely place for families or for a week skiing. Our hotel was across the road from the pieste which was useful. It was also a lovely hotel. Only downside was the runs could be very busy werent always groomed and got mogelly. By the end of the day most of the green runs had mogels on them or where slushy. The lifts where ok never had to wait particularly long.

Very family friendly skiresort. Good for skiing with little children. Almost ski-in ski-out.
Nice hotels, on the piste.

I really enjoyed it here and had a great time on the runs here and I also loved the skiing tour we did there ariund the area. I went here last february for the first time and even though the general temperatures weren't great in Austria (the other place where we stayed was quite warm due to which the snowquality was quite bad), the snow there was very good at the time we went there.

An awesome resort, with a great mix of runs and off-piste. Reasonable elevation for Austria so snow quality is pretty good compared to other resorts.
