Camp Fortune Review Summary

Camp Fortune is a small local hill located 15-20 minutes from downtown Ottawa, primarily serving families and learners alongside intermediate and advanced riders. Users consistently mention well-groomed runs, short lift queues, friendly staff, and a solid terrain park with progressive features. The resort offers night skiing and has recently expanded its lodge facilities. Common criticisms include short runs, slow fixed-grip lifts, icy conditions typical of eastern skiing, high food prices, and limited challenging terrain for expert skiers. Reviewers note it gets busy on weekends due to its proximity to Ottawa, though weekday and evening sessions are quieter.

For a small hill its great and has a lot of hills. Night skiing is a blast there too as its really quiet. Staff has always been friendly and kitchen has nice warm food. For an eastern ski hill in Canada its as good as it gets.

The last time I visited camp fortune I had a great time. The resort has a large number of different runs though most of them just feel like a slope from the top to the bottom and don't have very much differentiation. The food at the resort is pretty cheap compared to other resort and the quality of the food is great in my opinion with lots of options. Also the lifts at the resort work pretty well. They are usually very quick to get you up and are well organized to keep a constant flow of people. Overall I would say the resort just needs to spice up the runs a bit but otherwise it's a great ski resort to visit for a fun time that isn't super expensive.

Im 17, ive been skiing for 5 or 6 years consistently. A friend of mine brought me to camp fortune on a day the schools were closed. Its an overall great ski hill with plenty of runs for all skill levels. The hill is beginner oriented, although there is no shortage of fun for experienced skiers and snowboarders. The park is great with massive jumps and plenty of sections with rails and boxes. The trick park is a perfect place for beginners and pros alike to practice and improve their skills. The forest runs are very well designed and are quite long for the geographical area of the hill. The run boundaries are basically unlimited which allows skiers and snowboarders to create their own runs as they desire. When it snows and theres lots of powder, this is the best thing around. Theres a whole side of the hill dedicated to blacks and double blacks. One which goes down a rock cliff with various moguls and trees to avoid with plenty of nice drops. The other double black is a nice steep run where you can practice your carving, or for intermediate skiers to get a feel for steeper runs that you can find in the northern more resorts.

The restaurant has great french canadian food and never has a shortage of seating options. They have expanded many sections to accomodate the growing community of people. Although I am not of drinking age, the après ski bar seems incredible. Very welcoming staff and great prices.

Overall camp fortune is a great place for beginners and intermediate riders but can offer a great selection of runs for season experts as well.

Terrible hill with bad grooming, uncaring young staff. Lifts are slow and have long line ups.
Lots of out of control skiers and snowboarders that lead to on hill collisions
I've personally witnessed actions from staff and management that are dangerous and borderline negligence.
Over priced for what you get, avoid at all costs and go to Vorlage, Edelweiss or Cascade.

A smaller mountain, definitely for begginers. If you have been to a mountain called Mont rigaud it is very similar but a bit larger.
