What Skiers Say About Big White

Big White attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from families with young children to advanced riders seeking powder and tree runs. The most consistent praise centres on champagne powder snow, minimal lift queues (especially midweek), extensive tree skiing, and a compact, family-friendly village with ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Reviewers frequently mention the resort's suitability for all ability levels, though several note that even green runs can be steep. The most common complaint is poor visibility during storms, earning it the nickname 'Big White-Out' among locals. Some reviews highlight limited nightlife and après-ski options compared to larger resorts, and a few mention higher prices for food and accommodation.

Big white is an awesome family oriented resort with a small villiage to walk around, countless other activities do to (snowmobiling, hiking, tubing…) and great food places. Usually the resort has lots of fresh powder to ski through, although this season has been running short. Loft lines are awesome, all through Christmas and new years the longest I waited in line was only 7-10 minutes. I highly recommend visiting big white in Kelowna!

Good bunny hills. One of the more afforable hills. Stunning views. Close to a decent airport. Way better than dealing with the other touristy hills.

Big White gets a ton of snow, making for great glade skiing . The trees at the top are usually snow packed making for picturesque “ snow ghosts”.

Big white offers good lessons and packages to get started for under $200. The have lots of on mountain accommodation and the village is pretty nice for pictures even if you don’t stay there. The gondola is free, do you could get laps without lift ticket I suppose.

A big mountain but lots of whiteout conditions for the 5 days we were there. Much sunnier at Silver Star.

Some good options for restaurants but found them pricey for the quality of food.

Location to Kelowna airport is great.

Blue bird days are deadly at Big White, travel is easy from Kelowna, they do need a new lift to the very top, the T bar is not cutting it

Great ski resort. Management has shifted it into a money milking machine. Great sidecountry acess and champagne powder makes it great to get fresh powder almost every visit.

Really enjoyed our visit to big white. It was my first time skiing in Canada, and although I would still say the apres in the Alps is unbeaten, the snow quality in biggie was insane so I would highly recommend for anyone looking for great powder days (even if you have to battle through a white out it’s worth it!).
