What Skiers Say About Big White

Big White attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from families with young children to advanced riders seeking powder and tree runs. The most consistent praise centres on champagne powder snow, minimal lift queues (especially midweek), extensive tree skiing, and a compact, family-friendly village with ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Reviewers frequently mention the resort's suitability for all ability levels, though several note that even green runs can be steep. The most common complaint is poor visibility during storms, earning it the nickname 'Big White-Out' among locals. Some reviews highlight limited nightlife and après-ski options compared to larger resorts, and a few mention higher prices for food and accommodation.

This is where we started skiing and fell in love with the sport. The ski school is great and being there during the week makes you feel like you have the resort to yourself

Went during Feb half term, it was quiet. Some of the slopes completely empty. Lifts were efficient but didn’t have covers so were very cold and windswept. The restaurants were busy so we had to book ahead. There were few bars, most served foodIt was very cold in resort. The resort itself was not very big but the ski area was extensive.

Spent a week in this stunning location, witnessing the best sun set I've ever seen.
The facilities were fantastic and efficient.
Home to some really good runs for the green, blue and red boarder. A handful of more difficult runs if you head across the mountain

Big White is a great family friendly resort. Very conveniently located near Kelowna Airport which services flights from most major Canadian cities so easy to get to. The runs are excellent as well as the off piste. A great mountain for consistent powder and large amounts of snow. Snowshoe Sam’s is the apres bar of choice and has a great live music program.

The terrain at Big White is phenomenal and varied, perfect for the whole family and all levels of skiers/riders. BC in general is a bit short on fresh snow these last few weeks so trees and off-piste is not as enjoyable, but their grooming is excellent so always good skiing to be had.

Decent tree skiing decent snow although not the steepest mountain. Slower chairs on the expert terrain unfortunately high speed chairs are really only for intermediate runs.

Fun atmosphere, never long waits at lifts, fun apres spots-especially the secret back patio at Bull Wheel right under the gondola. Tons of ski in/out accommodation options, and they host AltiTunes music festival which is fun. Their tech for boot fitting is top of the line. Check conditions before going, sometimes its icey

Truly my favourite resort in western Canada. Easy to get to form the airport, small village that’s easy to get around. Even on busy days the lift lines are manageable. Value for money is huge. Tree runs are epic and the skiable terrain is incredible.

I grew up in Kelowna and have boarded at this hill for almost 30 years. Great little hill! Good variety of runs to suit every skill level and grooming preference. There are plenty of other activities as well like ice climbing, snowshoeing, tubing, and more. There’s no shopping or other types of indoor activities but Kelowna is a short drive away if that’s what you’re after.
