What Skiers Say About Lake Louise

Lake Louise attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the resort's extensive terrain, including back bowls, tree runs, and varied difficulty levels. Reviews frequently mention excellent powder quality, minimal lift queues, spectacular mountain views, and efficient lift systems including recent upgrades. Negative feedback centres on inconsistent snow conditions with runs becoming icy between storms, expensive food and limited dining options, cold temperatures, parking difficulties especially on weekends, and a subdued après-ski atmosphere compared to European resorts. Several users note the resort works well for mixed-ability groups due to its terrain variety.

Amazing variety of terrain for all skills. So many hidden gem runs to discover, high speed lifts plus a gondola with full service chalets in multiple areas of the resort. Great for multiple days of skiing.

Great , beautiful resort. Would definitely come again since I live in the prairies in Manitoba, we don't have many great slopes nearby. Can't wait to visit again !!

Fantastic ski hill, my favourite in Alberta. The patio and apres-ski options, including halfway down the hill. The lifts never have too long of a lineup, and the vibes are unreal. Getting tickets even with long lineups goes fairly quickly, staff is all friendly and knowledgeable.

Great hill! Not too much around but not super far from Banff. Went during the cold snap so it was quite cold but I had an amazing time!

I have been returning to Lake Louise for a number of years and it feels like my skiing home. The staff are so welcoming from the moment of arriving at resort. There are plenty of options for skiing depending on your level - nice cruisy runs for beginners and intermediates and a mix of moguls, maintained off piste and tree runs for a slightly more advanced skier. If you like moguls, the back bowls are your place to go!! The resort has ski friend tours where you can join a group and get a bit of a locals tour round some of the best ski areas. As a solo skier this is often a nice way to meet new people but also to get a general flavour for the resort without having to think too much about navigating piste maps.

Heading up Green Chair at Blue Mountain was a game-changer for me. The fresh air, the wide, and open runs felt like the perfect step up. I started on Easy Rider, nervous but excited, carving smoother than I expected. Halfway down, I picked up speed, feeling that rush everyone talks about. A little wobble near the bottom almost took me out, but I stayed upright. By the time I reached the lift again, I knew I was hooked. It wasnt just about the ride, it was about pushing myself. Cant wait to go back and level up even more!

An amazing resort full of great skiing. However as with most NA resorts theres not a huge apres ski scene. A few small bars at the bottoms by the main entrance and a number of lodges along the way. The bistro half way down the front of the moment is an incredible spot for lunch however. All the runs are well groomed and well connected for a great ski experience.

I love shredding Louise the pow caches are fenominal and the shoots just hit different! Staff there are always so happy to help and give guidance. One tip from my friends who are a bit less experience is that it wasnt their favourite due to the steepness of lots of the runs. That arent the very beginner runs:)

Lake Louise is a gorgeous resort, the views are magnificent and the skiing excellent. Note however that you would need to book a stay in Banff or Canmore as there are hardly any accommodations in Lake Louise. Highly recommended if you have a car and can drive 40 min from Canmore.

I have skied many resorts in the rockies and this was my first time at Louise. It was early season so the conditions weren't expected to be stellar but I was pleasantly surprised. Found some good quality snow in the back bowl and the groomers were well maintained. Lots of terrain made it not a busy experience which was nice. Almost no lines at the lifts at all and an awesome outdoor fire and apres spot at the main lodge for drinks after made it an awesome experience.

Ive snowboarded at lake Louise almost every year since I was a kid. The general environment is great and everyone is super friendly and talkative. As for the slopes they are fantastic. Early morning at the top of the world there is awesome powder. At lake Louise I personally love all the tree runs that you can find.

Lake Louise is a beast of a resort you can spend all day on one lift and still be finding new terrain. The flip side of that is it can be easy to find yourself lost in the trees if you venture off the groomed runs.No matter where you end up on the mountain there are restaurants and great views, especially at the top of summit. If you are there within a week of a snow dump you have to go to West Bowl first thing in the morning.

Sunshine village is a wonderful resort, with a tendency to open, fast, smooth runs. Most of the lifts meet at the same village so runs tend to all end up back at the same spot which makes it easy to try lots of different terrain quickly, compared to some hills where you climb three lifts on one face and it takes a lot longer to find your way back. There is not a lot of mogul runs, and the green groomed runs tend to be very flat and can cause issues for beginners snowboarders especially. If you are more experienced though they offer a great opportunity for long high speed runs. For more advanced terrain the goats eye mountain is unbeatable, as its an entire mountain consisting of entirely black runs and a single blue run. Sunshine also contains a lot of slackcountry areas if you are willing to hike 10-15 minutes. Parking fills up quickly on busy weekends so get there early, or catch the bus from Banff to get dropped off right at the front.Sunshine is a perfect compliment to Lake Louise which is just 35 minutes down the road. If you are staying in Banff you have to check them both out.
