Is the Skicircus the Ultimate Ski Destination for Families?
We’ve already talked about how Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is an excellent all-round ski area, but it’s especially worth highlighting how good it is for families. Let’s set the ground rules for what makes a resort the ultimate family ski destination. It needs a good mix of pistes for all abilities, excellent ski schools, plenty of accommodation options, varied places to eat, family-friendly off-slope activities, and good value for money. The Skicircus area delivers on all of this - and more.

Family Skiing in the Skicircus
Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is an exceptional choice for families, scoring 4.62/5.00 in our community ratings for family-friendliness.
As I mentioned before, when I’m recommending a family destination, I look for a few key skiing aspects. The Skicircus has a total ski area of 270km, which means that once you’re off the nursery slopes, you have an incredibly vast area to explore. The resort scores a very respectable 4.50/5.00 for beginner skiers and with a world-class groomed-run score of 4.70/5.00, it’s clear to see why. If your family are beginners, it’s important not to get bogged down in categories that are too hard for you, such as powder skiing or snow parks. As the parent planning the trip, you’ll already be aware of the differences in ability. One Snomad member reviewed the resort, saying “A fantastic resort for all abilities. This was my first time skiing and I absolutely loved it."
The lifts are superb, with the Snomad community rating them 4.86/5.00. This score places them 4th overall in our worldwide lift-efficiency rankings. Intermediate snowboarder Jeremy comments “The lifts are the best in Europe and operate with max efficiency. The town is beautiful and has links to many other great places. Can't recommend enough!” Excellent lifts mean mornings are less stressful and it’s easier to navigate your way to the wonderful beginner areas across the resort.
For beginners making their first turns, there are multiple learner areas across the region and there’s even a guide on the Skicircus website recommending the 10 best ski runs for beginners. We recommend starting with the beginner area in Hinterglemm then moving on to the Streuböden area in Fieberbrunn to ski the long, gentle slope at the top of the F6 button lift. After you’ve ticked both of these areas off, head over to the L12 lift in the centre of Leogang. This is a beginner lift and drops you at the top of a great slope to learn on. If you’re skiing down in the valley, you can look for cheaper passes that offer a more pay-as-you-go option.
A good ski school can be the difference between skiing becoming a yearly pilgrimage or just a forgotten memory. The Snomad community rates Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn 4.70/5.00 for its ski schools. Lewis explains: “The ski school around the resort was very good, with a high level of hospitality and help from the instructors.” Everyone who has mentioned the schools in their reviews has done so in a glowing manner. The Skicircus area is the perfect place to learn or to build confidence on your skis.
On the slopes, your kids won’t be bored. Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn knows that sometimes kids need a little extra fun on the mountain to give them a boost. Our main recommendations are:
- The Kids Winter Challenge (Saalbach Hinterglemm) - an action-packed challenge featuring tobogganing, winter walks and fun slopes!
- Timok’s Wild World (Fieberbrunn) - think magic carpets, a fun line, and even an alpine rollercoaster.
- Fisherman's Friend SkiMovie (Leogang) - create your own ski movie using just your lift pass!
You’ll also be delighted to hear that families get some serious value for money here. The 4.26/5.00 value-for-money rating is underpinned by the KIDS ON SKI | Saalfelden Leogang package for children aged 3-5, which includes free half-day ski lessons, ski hire and a ski pass during select weeks. This package is only available in Leogang, offering a great way to introduce your children to skiing!
During the Easter period, kids born in 2010 or later will receive a free ski pass from 28th March - 6th April 2026 when a parent purchases a ski pass (minimum of 4 days, excluding the SuperSkiCard). For anyone keen to take advantage of this deal, it’s only available when you purchase your ticket directly at the cable car ticket offices. It’s such a brilliant way to enjoy the sun and snow that spring skiing brings.

Family-Friendly Accommodation
It feels almost silly to point this out, but if you’ve ever been on holiday, especially with kids, you’ll know that good accommodation reduces stress tenfold. One of the significant benefits of Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, being a collection of towns in a large ski area, is the sheer amount of choice you have at every stage of your trip.
The Snomad community rates the accommodation options incredibly highly, with a score of 4.60/5.00. There’s truly something for everyone here. If you’re travelling with young children, there are family-friendly hotels that offer shuttle services up to the lifts, with some even having ski schools as part of the hotel. Whether you’re catered or self-catered, you won’t struggle to find quality food. As you’ll see later in this article, the food options really don’t leave anything to be desired, which opens the door to a fantastic range of self-catering stays. I’d always recommend staying as close to the main lift as possible – a 10-minute walk doesn’t sound bad until you’re in ski boots while man-marking a restless child.
One skier, Ruairidh, says: “Such a great resort, it has loads of lovely pistes for beginners and intermediates and lots of park options. Après-ski is very lively with lots of options and lots of high-quality hotels and restaurants.” Other community members also talk about how “classy” the hotels are. You’ll find something that suits your family in no time.
Eating Out Options for Families
The food gets fantastic reviews, scoring 4.36/5.00. Pete highlights this by saying there are “lots of food options to suit different budgets” – perfect if you’re bringing a family. There’s no point taking children to an expensive restaurant you already know they won’t enjoy. Vicki backs this up, saying: “Great food, so many places to visit” – a real testament to the variety on offer.
The Skicircus area has a brilliant range of eating-out options for all tastes and budgets - from laid-back, family-friendly mountain huts and casual village spots, to high-end dining when you want to make a night of it. This includes Michelin-starred restaurants, so you can keep things simple one day and go all-in the next.
One skier sums it up perfectly: “The village has plenty of charm, and there are a seemingly endless number of cosy restaurants on the mountain, serving traditional food at reasonable prices.”

Why the Towns are Perfect for Families
We know there’s enough on-slope action to keep your mini ski racers happy – but how do the towns hold up? One parent says: “We have been to the Skicircus with our 3 children a few times. Runs are wide and a good mix of blue/red/black, really is something for everyone. Great lift infrastructure, which seems to be added to or updated every season. There are plenty of mountain restaurants and bars across the mountains, always places to stop for a drink or bite to eat. ”
You’ll find plenty of child-focused activities – play areas, tobogganing and ice-skating – plus hotels that are perfect for keeping everyone entertained, while still being interesting enough for you as the designated chaperone.
The Home of Lässig for Young Children
Ski holidays, by nature, are great for children: they offer a fun, engaging activity all day. But how does the resort fare for those who are too young to get their first turns in? If your children are aged five and up, they can join regular ski school lessons, and some ski schools also offer “Happy Mini” lessons for children aged 3 to 4. These are focused on giving young children a positive introduction to winter sports. Many of these lessons also include shuttles for the children, so getting them to the slopes is a much more relaxed experience.
There are plenty of crèches and childcare options available in the resort, with some accepting infants from 4 months old. These are often provided by tour operators or found in specialised family-friendly hotels. The tourism office also has a list of phone numbers for registered childminders and babysitters, even though there isn’t a specific central nursery. I’d definitely recommend booking a hotel with childcare, or speaking to your tour operator before you book, as trying to find somewhere safe and fun for your children at the last minute can be incredibly stressful.

The Skicircus for Older Children It’s always lovely when a resort grows with your family – and that’s definitely the case with the Skicircus. The massive ski area means that as your abilities improve each year, you’ll keep discovering more of this fantastic region. Intermediate skier Alan says: “Been going there for many years, never got bored, extensive runs and mountain eateries.”
As your children get older, it’s the perfect time to introduce them to the wonderful Nitro Snowpark. Learning to ski or board in the park can be incredibly rewarding, and there’s even an introduction-to-the-park scheme to put your family through its paces. Expert skier Tom says: “Pistes are great with snow parks aplenty.”
You could even decide to take on THE CHALLENGE – a 65km ski circuit in the resort that takes around seven hours to complete. Skiers must hit all 32 ski lifts in a single day, and they have the chance to win a small reward if they finish.
The off-slope amenities grow with your family, too. With no shortage of high-class hotels and luxury restaurants, your children will have plenty of opportunities to graduate from the lunchtime Wiener Schnitzel to something a little more refined.
