On a recent trip where i experienced a number of Nth American resorts, Kirkwood really impressed. A quieter, more local/family vibe, but with great lift infrastructure and awesome, varied terrain. Loved the big powder bowls, long gullys that meander down the mountain like a natural halfpipe, and some great tree runs. All linked by corduroy groomers if that's your thing.

Lots of open terrain, with a lot of vertical drop ins, great intermediate park, super fun double black diamond and thay is open, steep and long. Very easy resort to explore. Almost all skiable terrain with cool shoots and pipes.

Kirkwood is one of my favorite ski resorts. I love the challenging off-piste terrain with great tree runs. Its also the perfect place to practice going to chutes, since they are many different level chutes to pick. Unfortunately, there isnt too much accommodation around the resort but this is also why it never gets too crowded.

I've been skiing Kirkwood since I was a year old and there's a reason for that. It's a great mountain with a range of terrain for most levels of skiers and riders. There are all sorts of fun bowls and off piste options that open up the whole mountain, and many of the more out of the way ones go untouched most days! Highly recommend Kirkwood if you're looking for an adventure!

Rode a couple seasons here and Kirkwood is a very solid choice for South Lake. It's a deceptively large mountain with a lot of varied terrain. I would say it's a bit more of a skier mountain than I'm used to but still very fun to snowboard at. If lucky enough to have backside be open on a powder day you will have a BLAST. I probably wouldn't recommend this mountain if you're a beginner; they definitely have green runs but most of the mountain is more appropriate for people that already know how. Also not much of a terrain park but that's ok. I will say that it has a bit of an upright vibe compared to a place like, say, Sierra-at-Tahoe. Not a ton of atmosphere or goofball culture, people are pretty serious there.

Kirkwood gets some of the best snow in the region. The blues I consider black. Once you know lay of the land best lodging is Mountain Club, ski-in/out. The parking is ok. The mountain is beautiful but in my view not great for beginners.

Good skiing experience for beginners. Not too busy but parking is limited.runs are short but has many variations. Always has the most snow compared to surrounding ski resorts.

The employees are free friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Other than weekends, there are little to no wait for the lifts. Some of the best steep groomers. Usually the best snow in the area.

Kirkwood is one of my absolute favourites in Tahoe. Its a but of a smaller resort, with less vertical per lift, but does it ever pack a punch with every little bit you get. I like to think of it as the locals choice in NorCal; that resort that is slightly off the beaten path and a little less touristy - but really delivers where it counts. The backside lift, The Wall and Cornice Express just open up so many possibilities you didnt think possible with the fewer number of lifts. On top of that, there arent many bottlenecks or single points of failures - chances are if the resort is open, you wont be stuck because one critical lift broke down - and I love that.
