What Skiers Say About Heavenly

Heavenly attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, though several users note limited green terrain and challenging navigation for first-timers. The overwhelming consensus centres on exceptional Lake Tahoe views from the slopes and a large, sprawling resort split between California and Nevada sides. Reviewers consistently mention good intermediate and advanced terrain, quality tree skiing after storms, and efficient modern lifts, though wind holds can disconnect the two sides of the mountain. Common complaints include high costs for tickets and food, crowding during peak periods, flat traverses between areas, and variable snow conditions in low seasons.

Once youve learned the lay of the land its awesome, but for beginners it can get confusing. They do their best but staff shortages and large crowds equal chaos on weekends or holidays. Staff is friendly but like most major resorts catered to old white men.

It is a great resort. Vast and expansive runs overlooking the beautiful Lake Tahoe. It is beginner friendly and family friendly as well.
There are two sides of the mountain on California and Nevada.
The Nevada side is more advanced than the California.
The only main issue is that the sides are mainly connected by one single chairlift. Therefore, whenever there is high wind, the chairlift stops rendering the mountain sides disconnected which creates a lot of chaos and limitations.

Heavenly has excellent grooming and views of Lake Tahoe. However, if you find yourself on the wrong side of the mountain, when the wind hold, happens and lift shut down, it can make for a long day getting back to your accommodations.

It takes a lot of patience dealing with Heavenly. They are short staffed which results in some chaos. Once youre up on the mountain, its a little smoother but they just need help, consistency and better signage and enforcement of line rules.

Great terrain, but tough to get to it. Doesn't get as much snow as surrounding resorts. Often very crowded. Careful you don't get stuck on the gondola.

The lifts can be a challenge if its too windy, as many access points close or are put on wind hold, cutting off the connection from the California side to the Nevada side. With lack of wind and proper coverage, it is an amazingly fun mountain to explore, with great tree runs, groomed trails with incredible views of lake Tahoe and chill traverse trails. Not a very beginner friendly mountain.

I love Heavenly! Its a solid mountain with a friendly vibe. I love the view of the lake from the lifts and the runs. The bowls are a lot of fun and there are a lot of tree runs. On a good snow day, its hard to beat!

There is terrain for every level and good amenities on the mountain. It can be tough at the beginning to have a full ski down experience given a lack of snow, so prepare to upload and download.

The staff is really nice and friendly and the ski service crew will tune up your skis super fast.

I get the Epic pass mainly to go to Heavenly. I think its the best mountain in the Tahoe area and beats the business of Palisades.

Heavenly at Lake Tahoe has to be one of the most beautiful ski resorts to ever exist. Skiers will have a wide range of terrain with varying run difficulty. Riders can take the main lift all the way to the peak and choose to ski down between either a hard black or an intermediate blue run. These runs are extremely long and satisfying while also allowing for some truly breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe. Neither skiers nor snowboarders will be disappointed at the selection of runs offered at this resort as it is fairly large.

Accommodations are available both at the resorts and off site with airbnbs or hotels within a 10 minute drive to the lifts.

Apres ski and dining options are plentiful albeit expensive but will leave you satisfied.

It is important to keep in mind that Tahoe is a tourist town and the ski resorts will reflect that in terms of crowdedness, especially during holidays and vacations. As a result of this high demand, this resort is also reasonably expensive which is why I advise booking at off peak times, either during a long weekend, or towards the beginning or end of the season.

I would consider Heavenly one of the most beautiful ski resorts in the US thanks to the views of Lake Tahoe that can be admired while skiing/riding down the mountain. Ive also had great off-piste experiences here in some of the most amazing powder. The DJ set at one of the mid mountain lodges is an experience that should not be missed if you enjoy a mid day drink and bite with a fun vibe.
