What Skiers Say About Zermatt
Zermatt attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders seeking well-groomed pistes, efficient lift infrastructure, and high-altitude reliability. Reviewers consistently praise the extensive terrain, modern gondola systems, scenic runs with Matterhorn views, and the car-free village atmosphere. The ability to ski across to Italy (Cervinia) is frequently highlighted as a major advantage for varied terrain and cheaper dining. However, the resort is repeatedly criticised for high costs across accommodation, food, and lift passes. Several reviewers note limited beginner-friendly terrain, with blues sometimes feeling more challenging than advertised, and mention that lower runs can be narrow and congested, particularly at weekends.

Extensive skiing, especially when connection to Italy open. Mainly red pistes, so good for advanced skiers. Groomed pistes so as GS racer skier myself it made it very enjoyable. Off piste not too great - potentially due to early season.
Lovely on mountain restaurants e.g chez vroni or chalet Etoile. Overall fab skiing with beautiful backdrop of Matterhorn but expensive.
The city is amazing and as a plus it is car free. Downside is the price which is quite high, 110 franks for a day ski pass.
I will 100% return when possible and the accommodation used was very convenient and useful as a base for snowboarding.
The views of the Matterhorn are amazing.
Skiing you have 3 options - gornergrat, sunnegga and klein Matterhorn.
Plenty of runs to select and the mountain restaurants are amazing.
Ended up at chez Vrony which is the place to eat and also have the best view of the Matterhorn. Also enjoyed Xmas dinner at the Blatten.
The village is full of shops and there are plenty of bars to enjoy apres.
nip over to italy for better value but not always open and a long track back for intermediates
if you and get a good deal go for it
Excellent food choices for all
Fabulous snow conditions every time we have been
All our needs have been met from loosing, forgetting & requesting every possible manner of items/equipment wanted by every age group
This resort is top notch for quality skiing, accomodation and dining. The apres-ski scene is lively, but not quite up to Austrian standards.
The snow is guaranteed, and you always have the option of popping over to Italy for a change (weather permitting!).
Will continue going to Zermatt as long as the old legs allow ;-)
The skiing is super and night live is very good.
