Andermatt is easily reached by Train or car from Zurich. We really enjoyed the train option.
The Gemstock is the area of interest for advanced skiers and boarders.
The summit is accessed with just two gondola rides from the village. The terrain is essentially Blacks and Reds with plenty of off-piste options. The runs from the summit to the village are steep, fast and fun. At the bottom of the run home there are a couple of small guest houses serving beer and lunch at reasonable prices if you prefer to fuel-up off the mountain.
The cafe bar at Gurschen is relaxed and has a great view over the Russi run and is good for some local fare and a beer.
The Natschen and Gutsch side, toward Disentis, has more family friendly slopes than the Gemstock area and allows for a tour to a slope-side restaurant or a more sedate exploration of the area. There's even a lighthouse up the mountain for some reason!
