Åre (and surrounding resorts) in Sweden is one of my favourite places Ive skied. The resorts are comprehensive and has something for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Wide open pistes with secret cabins with fires hidden amongst beautiful tree runs, quiet lifts, and accessible off piste for those more advanced or new to pushing themselves. The views over the lake are magical, especially with the prolonged sunrise and sunset of Nordic winter. Reasonably priced accommodation giving you more for your money than other places in Europe. Contemporary Scandinavian design with log burners, saunas and large glass windows to take in those stunning views . The village is cosy and lively, with plenty of good food and après-ski vibes. There are also plenty of other activities including a full day private ski mobile tour across the frozen lakes where we cooked lunch in a hut! 10/10

Very Family friendly. The best hot chocolates on the slopes. This was my first time skiing with family but the resort had good easy learning slopes.

Amazing resort. Skiing through trees and even BBQs at the bottom of slopes to cook your lunch. Would return!

Amazing place, very nice selection of slopes (lots of colours but they cross over in some places, so you can move up from green to a green/blue, then a blue to a blue/red etc.) very good for people wanting to progress safely and confidently. Lovely vibe too- proper ski town and lovely people. The only thing missing is apres but this isnt the purpose of Åre- its more a family place. Plus the views from the top are amazing, beautiful sunsets as you go down the runs. There are even some where you can take your time (dotted greens) that are worth doing to take in the sunrise/set. The other negative is because it is so far north, travelling there can be an issue and it gets dark quite early.

Although not as as big as some of the resorts we are lucky to have in the French alps, its an amazing area with so much to do. Incredible powder that can remain untouched for days if you know where to look, and the ability to ski over the back side of the mountain for the more adventurous.
The snow parks are legendary, with huge features for the pros, and also many smaller features for the up and coming riders. The ski pass covers an additional area (Tegefjäll) linked by a free bus, which provides even more varied terrain, and some incredible off piste
Apres ski is on the more expensive side, but is consistent with Swedish prices.
Wouldnt hesitate to go back

Åre is a wonderful little resort, perfect for a few days of skiing or snowboarding. The ski lifts are modern and quick with short queues. The resort is easy to get to from Trondheim apport with a rental car. The resort has some ski in/out and pretty good restaurants but not much après if thats what youre after. The off piste is great in parts if you know where to look but harder if youre a boarder. There are some awesome long runs but they are generally blue/red. Would definitely go back

Great place to visit as probably Sweden flagship Ski resort. Good. Skiing terrain and setup for families but not quite on a par with alpine resorts due to restricted size. Great alternative if you are looking for something a little different.

We were unfortunate with the weather, it was quite warm. Lots of drag lifts and quite steep but friendly people. Can get train from Stockholm so a benefit.

Poor snow didn't help with our experience, but we came away underwhelmed after skiing here. Very expensive, limited skiing, poorly linked lifts and runs, and difficult travel connections. Probably a mid range resort when the snow is better, but really not great with failing March snow
