What Skiers Say About Courmayeur

Courmayeur is a small, scenic resort beneath Mont Blanc that attracts intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders. Reviewers consistently mention well-groomed pistes, quiet slopes during weekdays, excellent on-mountain and in-town dining, and short lift queues outside weekends. The compact ski area is generally covered in two to three days, making it popular for long weekends rather than week-long trips. Most users highlight the beautiful, upmarket town with designer shops and good restaurant options, though some note limited après-ski atmosphere and higher prices. Snow reliability is aided by altitude and snowmaking, though lower runs can become slushy in spring. Several reviewers mention the lift pass includes access to nearby resorts like La Thuile.

We had an enjoyable long weekend skiing in Courmayeur. Can highly recommend Hotel Berthod and Ristorante La Boite.
Difficult to find many gluten free places to eat out but Ristorante La Boite offered gluten free crackers and gluten free pasta (although you have to ask).
A lot of the lifts are very old and a bit slow but ski hire is good. We went late in the season so it was a bit slushy and lumpy at the bottom and quite icy at the top. The views from the top of Youla lift across to Mont Blanc on a sunny day are incredible. We found everyone to be very friendly and fab to be able to leave your skis and boots at the top of the gondola for no extra charge with SkiSet rental.

Courmayeur is a small resort and some of the higher up lifts are slow and can have a very long line. The option of hiring a guide and doing the vallee blanche is a nice addition for those looking for more adventure. The village is very historic and charming and has an excellent selection of dining and shopping. I would certainly consider coming back

Quite a small town with lots of high end boutique type shops.
People very friendly and the ice cream and cakes in the shops were delicious.
Went to a very inconspicuous cafe that near the cinema and they did an amazing pizza and pasta that you would expect to find in a restaurant with lovely fresh wine... Went back the next day or was that good!!

Hotel food was amazing. 4 courses when 2 would've been enough but again the food was fantastic. Rooms very clean and staff were so so friendly.

Snow was great and our lift pass took us to France for two days which was great to break up the week.

Would definitely consider to go back

Courmayeur has something for everyone, some lovely wide pistes and great restaurant options for mountain lunches. Lots of off piste options and good for bad weather days - skiing in the trees.

Of conditions allow for off piste, thats a different story

Great skiing, both pisted and off-piste.

Mountain food is unbeatable. 8 for an outstanding pizza.

Option to rent skis on the mountain, meaning you don't need to carry skis back to your apartment each night if you're hiring.

Apres-ski is amazing too - there's a club/bar open on the mountain until 12:00am most nights, accessible without skis & is always amazing fun.

Small resort on the border of France. When I went it was during COVID so I dont know if the experience was representative. Super cute town, loads of lovely shops, bars, and restaurants. There were some lovely restaurants on piste which were still accessible after the slopes had shut via the telecabine and a short but amusing climb. The resort is slightly small, but can normally ski over into other areas. The runs were always well groomed, but were extremely icey and there were chunks of ice everywhere. Not great for snowboarding. Had a great time at the resort and everyone was super friendly. Enjoyable for all levels

Courmayeur is a small resort - perfect for a long weekend as you can ski most of it over a day or two. The pisted runs are lovely - wide and some through trees. The resort is super quiet which makes all the difference. Good food, really lovely people and everything felt reasonable price wise. They views are amazing - Mont Blanc etc, there is no disappointing outlook. Off piste - powder and plenty trees to explore too just near the groomed runs.

Lifts are on the older side, the apres scene wasnt really happening in off week. It probably is a bit small for a full week. However you are able to visit another Aosta valley resort with your pass. Free buses make getting down the valley easy.

Overall a good skiing experience in Courmayeur.

Courmayeur is marketed as the premium ski resort but the lifts and slopes do not match its reputation. Still a great area but over crowded and icey slopes. Great restaurants on the mountain and well priced. Views are amazing but feel the lifts need an upgrade. Big town, lots of choice.
