What Skiers Say About Canazei - Belvedere

Canazei attracts predominantly advanced and intermediate skiers seeking access to the Sella Ronda circuit and the wider Dolomiti Superski area. Reviewers consistently praise the extensive lift system, well-groomed pistes, efficient snow management, and scenic mountain views. The resort is noted for being more budget-friendly compared to other Dolomites resorts whilst maintaining quality infrastructure. Common criticisms include confusing piste maps, morning queues on the main gondola from the village, narrow runs in some areas, and limited off-piste opportunities. Several users mention that accommodation location matters due to non-free ski buses, and a few note recent restrictions on après-ski affecting the nightlife atmosphere.

Fast access to the upper slopes from the town. We experienced no qs. Once at the top you are on the famous Sellaronda route / circuit which you can follow either clockwise or anticlockwise. Either way you return to your starting point. Easily managed in under 5 hours by intermediate skiers. Local slopes are wide and plentiful. Personally feel the Selva side( next valley over) is more picturesque and has far more great lunch spots. The whole area is vast, high , snowsure and has something for everyone . Hard to fault.

A fantastic ski area with 450+ lifts and 1400km of fantastic skiing. You will never be bored on piste, at the mountain restaurants, or in the off piste venues. Somewhere for all the family no matter what their ability.

Incredibly large and varied ski area with something for everyone. Not door to door Bou Sella Ronda gives two circular ski routes, Marmalada Glacier is a challenge combined with one of Europes longest ski runs and Alta Badia is amazing with long empty runs. One youve been to any Reston the Sella Ronda youll want to keep coming back.

a lot of the groomed runs are quite narrow and i do prefer wider runs. i went during the busy christmas period so it was quite busy but i had a really good time and the runs are well maintained. snow was fantastic. map of the slopes was very confusing though and got lost twice so thats my only negative.

Fantastic resort and very well connected. We chose the Dolomiti super ski pass which allowed us access to almost every resort, therefore in a day we could cover a huge amount of the mountain range - would highly recommend if confident skier/boarders!

Brilliant resort for on-piste skiing. Local accommodation far cheaper than alternative ski areas in Italy and Europe, yet links in to the second largest continuous ski area in the world. Off piste is pretty lacking though.

Good resort for family and plenty of variety of piste for experienced kids - hence happy family. Not many easy runs for the inexperienced in Canazei.

Fantastic skiing, quiet, lovely wide and well groomed slopes, very little lift queues. Good value in mountain restaurants, with fun, lively atmospheres.

The town is lovely, good for non skiers as has plenty to do and some lovely walks. Even had a non skiers in our chalet that had brought his bike and went cycling every day.

Would definitely go back, but haven't been able to find any chalets, which is our usual preferred accommodation.

Skiing in Italy is the secret step-up from France. The piste is quiet, the terrain is beautifully rustic, the food is homemade, and the locals are welcoming. Canazei has the perfect combination of idyllic skiing and apres in the evening.

While there was not enough snow for off piste/powder skiing while we were there, the imposter skiing was excellent with only short lift queues.

Canazei is a lovely Italian village and we stayed in a family run hotel which was very friendly and the food was amazing.
It was the first time I had skied in the Dolomites and they are beautiful and I will definitely be going back. It was also the first time for a few things, skiing down a couloir guided by some amazing guys from the local ski school, which opened out to some fantastic off-piste. First time I had been pulled across a frozen reservoir by a skidoo. First bombardino, it you have not had one its a great warming drink on a clod day in the mountains.
A great holiday and would definitely go back with Ski Club of GB who organised this fantastic week of skiing.

Great off piste holiday but the conditions were great in March 2024 with fresh snow. Sass Pordoi lift from Passo Pordoi takes you to the top of the Group Dei Sella, the central group from where there are several great off piste runs (a guide is essential though at my level). Another great run is from the top of Marmolada, down to the lake, although transport out is needed (provided by the local ski school for us).

Skiing in this region is so easy. The Sellaronda is clearly marked in orange and green ( one for clockwise, one for anticlockwise) so come of a lift and just follow the colour. Theres so many beautiful resorts on the way round with plenty stop offs for eating and drinking.
We stayed just on the outskirts of Canazie and the ski bus ran regularly to take us into town for the ski lifts. We would often walk back after a few refreshments which would take about 10 minutes.
So good Im going back in February 2025.

Canazei is a pleasant small town which gives you quick access to the Sella Ronda and all its skiing, at lower prices than the more fashionable and better known resorts.

Canazei is a great resort to access the Sella Ronda route. This was our 2nd winter visit ( January 2024) as we had such a great time in January 2023. There are loads of pistes, mainly reds and blues suitable for a wide range of skiers/snowboarders. You can find quieter areas to ski if you leave the main Sella Ronda route and ski near some of the pretty little villages like Alta Badia. In our family group we have used apartments, hotels and the super campsite Marmolada which is really handy for the gondola. Lots of restaurants for eating out (definitely worth booking at busy periods). We will be back!
