What Skiers Say About Bormio

Bormio attracts intermediate and advanced skiers looking for a quieter, value-focused alternative to larger resorts. Reviewers consistently mention well-groomed red and blue runs, high altitude ensuring reliable snow, and a charming old town separate from the slopes. Families and school groups feature prominently, with many noting the resort caters well to developing skiers but offers limited challenge for experts. Several users highlight short lift queues outside weekends, thermal spas in town, and reasonable prices for food and passes. Negatives centre on limited terrain size, runs cutting up quickly in afternoons, and variable snow conditions at lower altitudes.

Has the Stelvio downhill to aspire to and good selection of wide reds and blues. Good nursery area at 2000m with good progression for aspiring beginners. A wide range of reasonably priced restaurants and a family friendly vibe!

Lifts are busy but filter through quickly so waits arent too long. The lifts do take a while however to reach the end. There are only a few places on the mountain to eat so get very busy. However, the food at these locations are excellent. The runs are very good in the morning, but cut up very quickly with a lot of skiers on the mountain so lots of breaks in the afternoon are required when the snow is very uneven. All the runs were open and there are some very good runs for beginner and intermediate skiers, however nothing too challenging for those more advanced. Some incredible views at 3000ft if the weather is right!

Very small but nice town at the bottom of the mountain. Long peak to creek run which is really fun. Some nice wide runs from bormio 3000 although maybe not best for beginners as exposed to different weather

Stayed at the Girasole 2000 hotel. It was very dated and had a 70s feel to it. However, Mary the receptionist was wonderful and the bar and food areas/ restaurants were all good. Food was basic but good. Drinks werent overly expensive and food was reasonable. The best thing about the hotel was the door step skiing. You literally walked out the restaurant doors onto the slopes. Perfect for quick access and excellent skiing. Would go back but would be nice to see a bit of money put into the interiors.
