What Skiers Say About Bormio

Bormio attracts intermediate and advanced skiers looking for a quieter, value-focused alternative to larger resorts. Reviewers consistently mention well-groomed red and blue runs, high altitude ensuring reliable snow, and a charming old town separate from the slopes. Families and school groups feature prominently, with many noting the resort caters well to developing skiers but offers limited challenge for experts. Several users highlight short lift queues outside weekends, thermal spas in town, and reasonable prices for food and passes. Negatives centre on limited terrain size, runs cutting up quickly in afternoons, and variable snow conditions at lower altitudes.

Unpretentious, superb groomed pistes and lifts. Option to ski santa caterina for more red and black runs and some more off piste. Very friendly and good for families. Hotel Funivia at the bottom of the Olympic black run is SUPERB! There is a bus to santa caterina and you can get over to livigno too. Stunning town and spas.

Passo Tonale- just south of Borneo is great for families and beginner skiers. Lovely blue wide runs help build confidence. During term time, the slopes are pretty empty and the views are stunning. The resort is high so snow is good most of the season.

Great location, easy access to slopes, accommodating hosts and brilliant apres options.

Slopes were busy enough to make for a great trip but also quiet enough to have your own space.

Highly recommend!

We visited for new year, snow could have been better but as Milan is hosting the olympics this year we knew that there would have been some new infrastructure and investment . The town of Bormio is ancient and beautiful, not built on piste, with a gondola to 2000m. Food is reasonable and lift passes waaay cheaper than French valley. We enjoyed the town and some quiet family skiing, weekends the vibe hits and the DJ’s fire up making the Aprés scene. Lovely place, mostly reds so not great for beginners !

Great family holiday destination catered from the heart of the beautiful old rural town of Bormio. The ski runs are all excellent with conditions very reliable during my 2 week stay. A trip to the Cafe atop Bormio 3000 is a must do, and if you have time to travel to Oga then I would slso recommend this.

Bormio ski resort is a beautiful resort tucked away in the alps. As a snowboarder, there are plenty of slopes for all abilities, and even some exciting off piste trails.

The resort was lovely. Part of a school trip, so it was moderately busy. The runs were great and many options for all abilities! Would definitely recommend for families and the ski-schools were great.

Bormio is a great little resort in the Lombardy region of the Italian Alps. It has high altitude skiing, with mostly red graded piste. It boasts a world cup DH run and is to be home to the 2026 Olympics DH events. You can stay at Bormio 2000 for ski in ski out accommodation, or in the town with a nice 'old town' area full of shops, cafes, and bars with lots of character. The Italian food is fantastic. The resort is great value too compared with more glamorous resorts elsewhere.

Resort is lovely all round, I stayed in the Bormio 2000 hotel which was brilliant as it was about a 50m walk from the slopes and lifts, queue times were relatively short which is great as usually ski lift queues can get quite excessive. Only negatives would be the amount of snowfall on the pistes which was limited at the time, meaning lots of snowblowers had to be used.
Pro tip for future skiers: Stick to the back side of the mountain if you prefer quieter runs, and there's a wonderful slope route that takes you all the way down into the local village of Bormio.

Bormio is an excellent ski resort, beautiful Italian alps and best of all it hosts most competitive races!

Its well groomed and has a variety of choices, leaning more towards the advanced rather than beginner.

This resort is a great choice
