Wonderful village of Folgaria and quite the experience for families over the new year celebrations. Skiing is great for my younger family but experienced skiers may like more of a challenge.

I am lucky enough to have Folgaria as my local go to ski area. This is where I learnt to ski at the age of 50! I am what I believe to be an intermediate skier… fingers crossed I will get better with each season! I so far stick to their impeccably groomed slopes. Folgaria is a great place to learn to ski! There are many ski schools in the area, offering a wide choice of courses for all. On the mountains there are a fantastic choice of easy well groomed wide blue slopes, they are generally quiet and if you are just starting out, they are a joy to learn on, or just take the day easy! The reds are a lot of fun! Again there are many wide red slopes, they have many parts of the slope that level out a bit so you can catch your breath before taking the next steeper part of the runs. The blacks I have yet to attempt…. Who knows maybe this year! The black slopes never seem to have anyone at all on them, apart from when the male US Ski Team is doing their training.
The cost of skiing in Folgaria is by far the most economically priced resort I have found, that’s from the ski passes to accommodation and eating out. I paid for my meal on the mountain what my friend paid for just his Aperol Spritz on the slopes in France! The local accommodation is mainly much the same, although you can find a few up market options which are lovely and also well priced. The Folgaria crowd is mainly Italians, although when neighbouring countries have their holidays, there are naturally a few visitors from surrounding countries which is nice. I am British and have seldom heard or seen another British person on the slopes. So if you want a cost affective ski resort that is beautiful and beautifully kept, family friendly and away from the maddening crowds, this could be for you!
