Looking at Vars' 185km of pistes, here's what stands out:

  • Eyssina (Green): A super-wide beginners' boulevard running from the top of the Eyssina chairlift, ideal for building confidence with its mellow gradient and plenty of space.

  • Chabrières (Blue): A long, sweeping cruiser that runs the full length of the resort from Chabrières down to Sainte-Marie, brilliant for racking up vertical and practising technique.

  • Combe du Vallon (Blue): A sheltered tree-lined run offering decent protection on windier days, with a consistent pitch that's perfect for intermediate carving.

  • Peynier (Red): A properly challenging red that drops steeply through varied terrain, testing your edge control and line choice throughout.

  • Olympic (Red): Named after the resort's FIS racing heritage, this is a proper carver's dream with excellent pitch and consistent snow coverage.

  • Mélèzes (Red): A fast, flowing run through the larch forest with enough gradient to get the adrenaline going without being overly technical.

  • Mayt (Black): The resort's signature steep run, dropping sharply beneath the Mayt chairlift with challenging moguls forming up as the season progresses.

  • Combe de Fontouse (Black): A north-facing black that holds powder longer than most, offering steep pitches and natural terrain features for advanced skiers.

  • Combe Chaude (Red/Black variants): Multiple routes down this wide-open bowl let you choose your adventure, from sustained red cruising to steeper black sections.
