What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

I had an amazing time in Tignes, the conditions were incredible, with lots of powder and really well keep pistes. The food and apres was lovely and a great atmosphere. I went with my university so there were quite a few beginners, who struggled in the fresh power and at the end of the day a few got hurt, by the over crowded last run to get down.
Overall I love Tignes and will be returning!

Great resort with lots to do on and off the slopes. Great apres. On a good snow week pistes are even better but off piste terrain really excels. Fun playground for any type of rider

Tignes (part of the espace Killy ski area) is huge and has enough runs to keep you occupied no matter your length of stay. I will say the resort is aimed at intermediate to advanced level skiers although this doesn't mean it is unsuitable for beginners.

Great resort, with good altitude so almost guaranteed to be snow sure. Good facilities and apres. Good varied runs and opportunities to skiing off piste with or without ski touring are decent. Enjoyed skiing there on several occasions.

Fantastic stay at 5 star CGH Le Lodge des Neiges in Tignes 1800. Super snow sure and very well connected huge ski area. Some high priced mountain restaurants offer poor value but some are good.

Very easy to access from Geneva airport and the roads are frequently cleared of snow for if you wish to travel by car. The resort offers slopes for all abilities of skiers and has great links to Val desere which is home to the biggest Fole Duce in the alps!

High quality long runs, great for piste skiers who dont want to be on and off lifts constantly. Lifts are very slow, need updating. No heated lifts.
Lots of accessible off piste available, with relatively safe areas.
Great apres both in Tignes and Val disere.
Le lac is generally a nicer resort, more family friendly.
Pistes down to resort from Val dIsere are tough for beginners, but can get lift down if needed.

Tignes is a resort for all to visit, I've been twice now and both times I've had an absolute blast! The on piste options are arguably superior to most resorts as well as the off piste options are so vast you'll get lost trying them all. Getting around resort is easy as most accommodations are walking distance away from amazing food and apres locations. I've stayed in both Val Claret and Le Lac and both villages are booming with things to do. Ski hire shops are literally everywhere you will never need to travel far for equipment. Sherpas are around the corner as well as a few spars so groceries are easy to come by. Definitely not the cheapest resort but it's far from being over priced, there are budget food and drink locations as well as your high end places. The locals are lovely and will always accommodate to the highest level, security and safety is great as well with there being on call security in pretty much all accommodation's. Probably my favourite apres bar "La Folie Douce" is located in the Val D'ISERE area and it is always booming with events and experiences for all types. Family's are welcome and have the options to escape the apres scene to inside and get a hot meal, which is always brilliant. There is also the famous rock formation which is always a sight to see and also the wooden village just down from La Folie Douce which is super cool and gives u the chance to ski through the woods.

The one and only downside to tignes is it's not a very snowboard friendly resort, there is a lot of flat plains in the beginner areas and I've had to tow a lot of people on my skis. Although if you stray away from those you will be absolutely fine, loads of expert and advanced level runs to keep the pros occupied.

All in all this resort has pretty much everything you can ask for, I highly recommend it to all looking for a ski/board holiday.

Thanks for reading my review

Amazing resort for intermediate and above skiiers. For beginners the greens are all at the top of the hill making it work to get to them and to get home from them. Great nightlife and loads of options for accommodation and food.

Big ski area linked with Val d'Isere. Skiing for every level and interest. Always groomed pistes in the morning. The altitude of 2100m means there is guaranteed snow, and then there is the glacier.
Lots of apres and nightlife and places to eat. A little bar in Le Lav called TCs services the best demi peche.
Easy to get around the resort and never too time much waiting for lifts.
