What Skiers Say About Saint Gervais Mont-Blanc

Saint Gervais attracts a wide range of skiers from beginners to experts, with most reviews coming from intermediate and advanced skiers from the UK. The resort is consistently praised for quiet slopes, well-maintained pistes, good value for money, and excellent lift connections to Megève and other areas via the Mont Blanc Evasion pass. The town itself is described as a genuine year-round community with good restaurant options, though booking ahead is necessary. Common criticisms centre on low altitude affecting snow reliability, limited après-ski and nightlife compared to larger resorts, and the need to take multiple gondolas to reach the slopes from the town.

Me and my friend booked a last minute trip quite spontaneously. We wanted somewhere cheap but that was still going to be fun and that’s exactly what we got! We booked through Heidi which was super easy from start to finish. I’d recommend to anyone wanting a short getaway for a relatively small price. The slopes were not too busy and there was still plenty of snow. Lots of fun scenic routes to go down. We are already planning our trip for next year!

We went to Gervais in February half term as it was the only time we could get away from work. We stayed right at the bottom of the mountain and got the gondola by the train station up to the top. Although it was not the snow covered town or villages, we may have stayed before, it kept to our budget and the hotel was still fantastic and had everything we needed.

We are both beginner to intermediate skiers enjoying blues and reds. As we went in February half term at times some of the lifts were busy but nowhere near as busy as we had expected, which was good there was a really good mix of runs and choice of routes. We have only been to flaine and Borovets previous and this was really
Big compared to them. There was a high avalanche risk when we went, so we kept to main pistes so I haven’t given a rating to any off
Piste areas but it looked like it was good.

One of the days we went over to the other side of the mountain and escaped the busy areas skiing some really Nice quiet tree lines. Overall it was a fantastic break. It would have been nice to have a ski in ski out hotel but also good that we found one within budget but still with very easy links to the top. We stayed out all day anyway and only returned to our hotel in the evening. One of the nights we used the hotel swimming pool but to be honest, we were both shattered and often just got an early night to get up to the first lift up in the morning. We also chose this place as it was only around an hour from the airport in the transfer, whereas some of them were very far.

First time to Saint Gervais, visited during peak season in Feb school holidays but wasn’t too busy compared to other resorts.
Found there to be distinct lack of groomed runs which didn’t realise before booking.
Apres ski is non existent and also a lack of restaurants, spent first night wandering place to place to find somewhere to eat. The following evenings we kept booking in advance.

Vast ski domaine. Beautiful place. We were unfortunate with the weather (foggy, snowy most days). Busy because it was half term, but well managed considering the crowds. Pistes were well groomed.

For a beginner skier the resort was fantastic, great long green runs, instructors were brilliant and the slopes were fairly quiet too. Suited for all ski capabilities with plenty of options from green - black runs all over the resort.

Just got back from Saint-Gervais and it’s actually such a good option if you don’t want to spend a fortune. Probably one of the cheaper ski trips I’ve done, but still really decent skiing. Slopes were way quieter than I expected too, which was a nice surprise.

That being said, it’s definitely more on the chilled side. If you’re going for more of a fun, party atmosphere you’d probably be better off in one of the bigger resorts. There was a Folie Douce that was easy access but a little far if you’re skiing back to Saint Gervais town which I wouldn’t recommend.

It was also hard to just walk into places for food in the town without a booking. We got caught out a couple of times, so I’d recommend booking ahead if you can.

Overall though, it’s a really nice spot, especially for families or if you just want something a bit more relaxed.

We stayed in an all inclusive hotel in st Gervais. The gondola up to the ski area was easy and only busy on the weekend.
The ski area was vast, with some absolutely gorgeous runs and so much variety (perfect for a nervous skier like myself). The runs were quiet (even on the weekend), and the greens and blues down through the trees were heavenly - I even managed a couple of red slopes.

We had some fantastic piste side meals, and many happy hours on the quiet slopes. The views were incredible and the range of pistes and distance you could travel has left us with more to explore.

The only downside is the altitude - we were lucky that there had been a big dump the weekend before we arrived so snow quality was good. I imagine it could become very patchy, especially on the sunny facing slopes.

Saint Gervais is reasonably quiet on weekdays, plenty of long runs of various difficulty. A lot of the black runs are mogul fields!

Average resort, too many runs aren’t groomed or maintained properly. The town of Saint Gervais doesn’t have enough restaurants to support the tourist population, struggle to find a table anywhere.
