What Skiers Say About Morzine

Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Après-ski options and value for money are generally well-regarded, though some mention the resort can get busy during peak periods.

One of the easiest resorts to get to, either by car from the uk or flying in to Geneva. Lots of accommodation choices, busy traditional town, not just an isolated ski resort. Low in altitude but decent snow can always be found higher up in Avoriaz area. Can get busy on the slopes but lifts are very efficient. Great all round resort. Family friendly & great nightlife too.

We stayed in an Airbnb apartment about 10 minutes walk from the Super Morzine lift, which was ideal, close enough to the town, but away from any noise. The town itself had everything that you want in terms of shops, bars and restaurants, but I wouldn't describe it as lively, so possibly not ideal for someone looking for lots of nightlife. The ski area seemed huge and during our three days there we hardly skied the same slopes twice, even though we only skied the Avoriaz side. The slopes did get busy at certain times of the day, but not too bad, the variety of pistes was excellent and there seemed to be loads of snow parks and features. I would definitely return.

I've been to Les Get and Morzine area multiple times over the years and it never disappoints. I love the laid back feel of Les Gets for families and the nightlight of Morzine. With with the connected runs you can get from Les Get to Morzine and Avoriaz and back easily in a day.

Morzine is a really family friendly resort and town has a great vibe. We came back in January 2025 for the third time! The complimentary busses that run through Morzine mean that wherever you’re staying you can quickly get to slopes. It also allows a quick trip up to Avoriaz for a change of scenery if you need that.

Love Morzine, its such a fun resort. Loads of great places to eat and the apres is fabulous. When there's snow, there is a huge area and the option to go up to Avoriaz too.

Morzine is a brilliant base for exploring the PDS. I personally love the Avoriaz sector but Morzine has the facilities you need when with a family or friends who all have different expectations from a ski trip.

Probably the easiest resort to drive to from the UK too.

Morzine is lovely little town part of the Portes du soleil ski area. Which has a wide variety of ski pistes for all levels of skier or snowboarders. Relaxed and family friendly feel but still good for groups of lads and girls or mixed groups. Plenty of bars and restaurants for your apres days and evenings. Loads of shops for ski and snowboard hire. Local supermarket if you are self catered in the bottom part of the town. Access to les get and avoriaz is easy via free bus or super morzine. You can ski to les get from morzine. Also having a Portes du soleil ski pass you can access many other parts of France and ski over the boarder in to Switzerland which is amazing. If you are brave enough give the Swiss wall a try or even just take the lift down which is steep enough it's self. Overall I think Morzine and the Portes du soleil has everything you need for a ski and snowboard holiday.

There is so much to do for all ages.. The skiing is so good and lots of wide tree lined piste's too. Its one of Europe's largest ski areas for all levels. There's plenty of ski schools and ski rental shops to choose from, there's night sledging, horse pulled ski experiences, plenty of bars and restaurants in the town. This was my 3rd holiday here skiing and will be coming out again in july for the Mtb !

Morzine and the rest of the Portes du soleil has a incredible ski area. Loads of different runs for all types of skier and snowboarders. Id say Morzine and Les Gets has a great family feel where has Avoriaz can be a little more hectic with slopes being busier and younger groups. I recommend getting over to chatel area and in to Switzerland the Swiss side has excellent snow conditions and normally quieter to ski. Im a early skier so get the early for the groomed slopes as the afternoons can become choppy in Avoriaz. Avoriaz has some excellent snowparks like the Stash. Bars and restaurants in morzine have plenty to offer one of my favourites is Au Bon Coin after a day on the slopes. If you like a beer le tremplin in Morzine do a excellent Guinness or Folie Douce in Avoriaz which has a great atmosphere for a afternoon drink both are great options but are more expensive than most other bars.If your brave enough give Bar Robinson I go it's cracking pint. We stayed in Chalet as a group of 12 but there is so much choice between hotels, apartments and self catered or catered chalets. Morzine is a lovely French Town and I could easily live there. We have 2 none skiers in our group who come and use the bars and restaurants and say there is plenty going on throughout the day for none skiers. If you require ski or snowboard hire plenty of shops with excellent equipment I've used 4 different shops in morzine and never been disappointed by the equipment. Also for some night time fun give the Avokarts a go in Avoriaz wouldn't recommend for the fainthearted. This year I also did paragliding with Aero-Bi Ecole Parapente Speedriding Morzine Avoriaz unbelievable experience seeing morzine from the sky highly recommend this.

Morzine is good for family skiing, not too challenging. THe town is a great "real" town with plenty of eating out and shopping options. Connected Avoriaz is more snow sure with more challengin ski options. They are both connected to the huge Portes du Soleil ski area with plenty to keep you busy for a long time.

Morzine is central to the 2 main areas of PDS so easy to ski in Les Gets or Avoriaz/chatel regardless of where your accommodation is. At most it would be a 10 minute bus to the furthest lift option. Lots of intermediate run options with enough advanced to keep you busy. The lift system and app is a bit outdated compared to Tignes/3V etc but not awful.

Morzine is a great resort as you have two mountains you can access so even with bad weather on one you’re still likely to have decent weather on the other. Great apres AND there’s a folie douce in Avoriaz.
