Family friendly, 1100 is a car- free resort. Restaurants and bars are all friendly and well run. Supermarkets and bakery as well a good choice of ski-hire shops. 70mins from Geneva. Ski-school is ESF, very efficient. Great links to the other resorts in the Grand Massif. A number of new, faster lifts have gone in over the last couple of years makes skiing even better.

When links to flaine and rest of grand massif are open this is an amazing ski resort to stay in. Really beautiful, lots of blues and reds in the area. Have been twice and would return again!

Morillon is very well linked with the rest of the Grand massif huge ski area. We were a mixed group of intermediates and advances and had a good mix of slopes available to suit all levels. Dont expect wild night life though!

Morillon is a part of Grand Masiff ski area in the beautiful part of French Alps 40 min from Geneva airport.
My son (snowboarder) and I (skier) have taken the full opportunity to explore all resorts in Grand Masiff which consist of Samöens, Morillon, Les Carroz, Flaine and Sixt resorts. For full 7 days over Christmas and New Year 2024/25 we have explored all resorts in Grand Massif using Morillon 700 gondola as a base. We have stayed in Verchaix, just across the beautiful Giffre river from Morillon gondola and 10 min walk from accommodation to the gondola station. All above mentioned resorts are interconnected with great quality speedy chairlifts which makes exploration of them a breeze and makes your day fully enjoyable as all the runs you take to connection chairlifts have different terrain levels and open the amazing views around every corner you take! Not the most exiting but most memorable run is Cascades from Flaine to Sixt, its a 14km long blue run which starts at the top of Flaine accessible by Les Grandes Platieres gondola from Flaine bowl. As you exit the gondola, right in front of you the is the Mont Blanc range with breathtaking views with Aiguille Du MIDI clearly defining the position of Mont Blanc to the right of it.
Your descent in to Sixt start at this point and takes you through the ridge of Flaine dropping down to the Cascades run with plenty of fresh pow either side on the first highest section of the run, then it goes in to the valley and becomes more like a true blue run with some sections which could be considered as a red run about midway. Cascades run is almost always empty due to misconception about how to get back to the main part of Grand Massif from Sixt. No need to worry about that! Grand Masiff has a free ski bus service which takes you from the bottom of Cascades to the Samoëns Village Grand Masiff Express gondola in leasurly 15 min drive, so from the time you arrive to Sixt to the time you are back at Samöens 1600 is a 30-40 min and wherever in any of the resorts you stay, you can access all the runs with Grand Masiff ski pass, there is an option of purchasing just 4villages ski pass (Morillon, Samöens, Les Carroz and Sixt) which excludes the Flaine resort chairlifts and gondolas but for 3 price difference compared to Grand Masiff pass its hardly a saving and you get soo much enjoyment in higher slopes of Flaine! All in all, the Grand Masiff is our choice for a second year running which offers soo many activities for non skiers as well as slopes crazy people!
Safe skiing everyone!

Compact little resort with very quiet pistes, no queueing for lifts. Staying in Les Esserts, the middle station makes it much more convenient especially with kids but this drastically reduces the apres ski and dining out options. Limited advanced runs unless you head over to the Flaine area

Used to go to Morillon every year and absolutely loved it! Amazing runs and apres ski. Slightly less snow sure than other resorts now though. Great resort for taking children, lots of really fun green runs through the trees and good ski schools.

We have stayed at Les Esserts, the mid station above Morrilon. We have found it to be family friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Most of the accommodation is self catering, but there are enough places to eat out if needed. There are plenty of ski hire shops, all with friendly and helpful staff.
It is not a resort for wild apres ski.
For beginners the nursery slope is well located and well looked after.
There is good access to the higher slopes with two chair lifts, and an easy green run back.
The main chair leads on to a wide range of slopes taking you to all parts of the Grand Massive. These slopes are well maintained with a large number of snow making machines and well served with a wide range of mountain restaurants.
We have found that there is plenty of scope for morning skiing and being back in Les Esserts to meet up with the rest of the family for lunch.

Very good for families with ski school near accommodations. Lots of family friendly runs and enclosed piste areas that all lead to one point at the bottom. Quite low altitude so can sometimes struggle with snow cover and quality depending on the time of year. Good access to the whole grand massif and over to flaine.

Morillon and Les Esserts
Very cheap
And cheerful and a bit neglected overall, but good lifts up to Grand Massif and you can ski over to the higher and thriving Flaine fairly large ski area and despite the snow running out down in Less Esserts, the snow above was great and vast in March. Ski hire quality wasnt the most current in les esserts but would suit beginners and intermediates fine.
Eating out in Les Esserts was a choice of two places and it all felt a bit abandoned and ghost town-ish!!
We didnt care because we were there to ski with the kids, but if you needed the whole buzzing apres scene, youd be sorely disappointed! One Sherpa, very overpriced. Big Carrefour down outside Morillon itself.

We love Morillon, with its small village feel, and easy ski school access, it makes skiing with a young family very doable. We stayed in Morillon 1100, and there are a couple of restaurants and a small selection of shops, and a supermarket. Lots of apartments to rent at reasonable prices, and quick access up the main lift to my favourite blue run, Sairon, or access to the rest of the Grand Massif. Only issue here is resort height, and we have found the snow levels poor in recent years in the village. But once youre up, the skiing is great and hopefully just a couple of blips with the weather will see this place have some more snow in the future in the resort.

Quiet area which did not benefit from much snow unfortunately. Access to Grand Massif was the saviour however and just a short drive to neighbouring Samoens. Also a short drive to Les Gets/ Morzine which could be an idea if you like to ski a lot.
