What Skiers Say About Chamonix
Chamonix attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers noting the resort is less suitable for complete beginners due to steep, challenging terrain. The resort comprises multiple separate ski areas accessed by free buses, which reviewers mention frequently as both convenient and occasionally frustrating. Off-piste skiing and steep groomers receive consistent praise from advanced riders, whilst the town itself is described as lively with good restaurants and bars, though dining and accommodation are repeatedly flagged as expensive. Several reviewers mention that runs can be narrow and that lift infrastructure feels dated in places. Weather-dependent snow cover at lower elevations and avalanche-related closures are noted across multiple visits.

Too many people in New Years holidays.
The lines to get in the lifts are ridiculously unorganized, there is no flags or markers to divide the lanes so people are just all of them over you when trying to get the lift, food in latitud 2000 is awesome, the bar and the first restaurant food is really bad but the views are nice, in general is a good ski resort to get to know, but not in holidays.
The shuttle bus also has terrible organization, the stops for the buses are not marked so the bus stops wherever he wants and people have to run to catch the bus, I would also ad flags to divide lanes in order to take the bus.
Le Refugio de Lognan is a charming lunch spot but is a bit off the beaten path - as are most memorable spots!
Only downside is having to get a bus to most of the ski areas each morning and back in the evening
However, each ski area is well thought out and easily large enough to entertain you for at least a day. There is a large amount of beginner and exper terrain, but limited snow parks. There are plentiful off-piste/backcountry options available, but there are significantly dangerous areas so please do use a guide or be very familiar with the terrain before you go. Chamonix is definitely worth a visit!
Chamonix has areas to learn, long wide runs for intermediates and more than enough for experienced riders.
I have been going here for over 20 years (and several seasons) and I still haven't ridden everything!
If you're bored with where you ride at the moment, go here!
Varied skiiing high enough to be pretty snow sure and enough for a good weekend.
Lively bars and super choise of dining options in town. Plenty to do off the pistes in Chamonix too
