Alpe d'Huez Review Summary

Alpe d'Huez attracts a broad range of skiers from beginners to experts, with users frequently noting the extensive green and blue runs that make it particularly suitable for learners and families. The resort's high altitude and sunny aspect are regularly mentioned, though this can lead to variable snow conditions lower down and slushy afternoons in spring. Multiple reviewers highlight the long runs, especially the Sarenne black, and the efficient lift system connecting to satellite villages like Vaujany and Oz. Après-ski receives mixed feedback, with Folie Douce praised but some users noting limited options and early closing times. Food quality both on-mountain and in town is consistently well-regarded, though prices are noted as typical for a French resort.

Went as part of a large group of mixed abilities. Great range of runs, good snow conditions. Big town for apres and la follies Deux half way up the mountain to party during the day.

Ski school looked lively but I did not take part.

Park area was well built, crash bag for flips was out on occasion.

Been coming back to Alpedhuez for years and even owned a flat for 5 years here.
The resort is high altitude so snow is almost guaranteed early in the season and lasts till Easter or beyond most years.
Off season it is nice and quiet but still well groomed pistes and lots of off piste to explore. But the main thing for me and my family was really how family friendly it is. Easy access. Pistes for all ages and abilities. Its possible to do a black run and still meet up with the family ant bottom of the resort or at any of the restaurants. Modern lifts and still expanding. If you get fed up with the resort you can explore the other resorts in the valley by using excellent buses. Would recommend to any family with small or grown up kids️

Great variety of slopes for a group of mixed skills, just wish it was less icy. Apres and food was all top notch too. A bit more queuing that some other resorts in the area though.

A great easy going resort. Good infrastructure and a fair amount of terrain. Probably more suited to beginners/intermediate riders but still scope for fun if you're more advanced.
Quite a few acres bars and pubs for enjoyment when the skiing is over too!

Alpe dHuez is a brilliant place to ski, with something for everyone and a really fun atmosphere. The skiing is fantastic loads of variety across the slopes, whether youre just starting out or looking for something more challenging. I still remember tackling the Sarenne run; its a real test of stamina, but the views are incredible and make it worth the effort. On sunny days, which seem to happen a lot here, the whole place feels amazing big blue skies and stunning scenery everywhere you look.

Off the slopes, the resort has a great vibe. Après-ski can get lively, especially at La Folie Douce, which is perfect if youre in the mood for a bit of a party. For quieter evenings, there are plenty of cosy restaurants and bars too. Accommodation is pretty varied, so whether youre on a budget or want a bit of luxury, youll find something that works. Its the kind of place thats easy to settle into, and Id happily go back its got that mix of great skiing and good energy that makes a holiday memorable.

I went skiing there with my kids and we stayed in an Airbnb and there was good snow and it snowed while we were there so we got powder days! The big lift takes you up to the peak where there is a black run to do which is quite hard but very fun! The blues were my childrens favourite and the farm run was very cool
