What Skiers Say About Bansko

Bansko attracts predominantly beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting its budget-friendly pricing for accommodation, food, and drink in town. The resort offers around 75km of pistes with a good mix of blues and reds, though advanced riders report the terrain becomes repetitive quickly. The single gondola from town creates significant bottlenecks, with queues frequently exceeding one to two hours during peak periods and school holidays, leading many users to take taxis to mid-station instead. Most reviewers praise the food scene, particularly in the old town, and describe the slopes as well-groomed when snow conditions allow, though coverage at lower elevations can be unreliable early and late season.

Great cheap holiday if your budget cant stretch to the alps, food and drinks are affordable and the apres is good. Gets very busy on the slopes!
Overall a good place to learn but not for someone looking for a large ski area but still well worth a visit. Going back in 2025 for a party holiday.

Cheap as chips. Good experience overall in the town. Long, slow and Slushy on the run back down to resort . Good for beginners. Great hotel with attentive staff, beers in the hot tub etc. Great nightlife.

This is a great beginner resort, its affordable and the skiing is fine. However its not the place if youre looking for spectacular runs. The lifts are slow and too busy, and the slopes are packed. Food and drink on the mountain and in the town is cheap though. Had a great time but wouldnt return.

Great resort for beginners and people on a budget. Super friendly staff. Would recommend for beginners but more advanced riders may get bored. The single gondola is the main issue as it can lead to long queues.

My experience at Bankso leads me to give it a rating of 3 out of 5. One of the things I think that makes it like this even though Ive gone two years in a row and probably will go again is literally the kebab sandwiches theyre sooo good after a good day of skiing. However food choices are limited and lack flavor. The ski school though has an amazing teacher that really took his time but I do think with the actual school if its not a private teacher the level being taught is at a mid level. Apres ski is great that I love and the drink prices all time low in Europe and Ive lived in Italy! The only problem with bankso is how you can see global warming theres barely any snow in February and its kind of sad.

Bansko was the perfect destination for my first snowboarding adventure! Despite being a complete beginner, I quickly picked up the basics and, to my surprise, made it up the mountain on the very first day. The breathtaking views and smooth slopes were the ideal backdrop for learning and falling in love with this exhilarating sport. This trip wasnt just a getawayit was the start of a newfound passion for snowboarding. Cant wait to hit the slopes again!

Great resort for families, beginners and intermediates, plenty of blue and red runs, great ski school and cheap beer!

Downside is only one lift up to the mountain which can get busy in peak times. Dont let that put you off as if with the ski school you can skip the queue!

Great resort, family friendly and very cheap.

The nursery slope in Bansko is fantastic and the price is reasonable, including having dinner and drinks in the town.

Nice mix of accommodation options.

Snow quality can be variable, particularly on the lower slopes.

Great resort for beginners as its cost effective and the slopes are mostly easy. The ski road Im told is one of the best and is very good for those who want to practise on a steady stretch of hill. Still very fun and the quality of food and people is amazing, highly recommended

Bansko is a great resort, especially for beginners. It is comparatively cheap, yet there are plenty of runs and even a ski road into the town. There are other activities to do outside of snow sports too, such as thermal baths, yours, hikes and shooting.
Im very excited to go back and hit the slopes, which are usually wide, not too busy on weekdays and have lots of variety.
I wouldnt recommend for those looking for a serious challenge, the black runs are limited and not super hard.

For beginners this is a really good resort in terms of value and experience. There are multiple ski schools and the prices are cheaper than what you would expect elsewhere for the same deal. There is more than just beginner runs for those who are looking for a little bit more so there is something for everyone. Food is great and authentic close to the gondola station and all other amenities can be found close by. The chairlift will get busy depending on what time you get there as there is only one main station but that can be avoided going early or later on in the day
