What Skiers Say About Stubai Glacier
Stubai Glacier attracts intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders who value reliable snow conditions due to the high altitude and glacier terrain. The majority of reviews highlight excellent snow quality, efficient modern lifts, well-groomed wide pistes, and a world-class terrain park. The resort is praised for being less crowded than larger resorts and offering good value for food and drink on the mountain. Negative points consistently mention the lack of ski-in/ski-out accommodation, with most lodging located 20-40 minutes away in valley villages, requiring reliance on ski buses that can be packed during peak times. Several reviewers note the limited size of the ski area, which can be fully explored in 1-2 days, and minimal après-ski options compared to larger Austrian resorts.

Brilliant food. Perfect winter holiday setting.
Also highly recommend sport farm for ski hire.
Most accommodation is a ski bus ride away from the Glacier, but the bus is frequent and efficient.
The family ski area is ideal for small children and beginners, with plenty of other options for both intermediate and advanced skiers.
The food and drink in the mountain is very reasonably priced and very tasty (I recommend the goulash soup), although it can be difficult to find somewhere to sit during busy periods.
Our children attended ski school for the first 2 times we took them, and they made amazing progress.
Im not one for jumps etc, but the Stubai zoo snow park looks amazing, with jumps to suit all abilities.
There are some large, safe powder areas that are easily accessible just off the pistes.
I thoroughly recommend the Wilde Grubn ski way down to the bottom gondola station.
All in all, a very good ski area with enough terrain to keep you entertained for a week, as long as youre not looking for a new piste every run.
In my opinion Stubai is a great little ski resort with plenty of stations around the mountain for food coffee and beers, theres 1 Apre bar called the umbrella bar which gets lively on a weekend after 4-5pm
Free Bus rides from all local towns into the resort with a ski pass which run roughly every 15 minutes
Over the 11 days only 3 times were the piste bashed however I believe this was due to the snow fall and weather
Great resort would recommend for families but not for party goers
Pros: the snow conditions were amazing, infrastructure (heated bubble lifts), selection of restaurants and shops on the mountain, very accessible from Innsbruck airport.
Cons: completed all the runs in 1.5 days so the resort smaller than average and there wasn't a big apre scene while we were there.
Overall, I'd go back if I wasn't able to get out earlier in the season or if I was going with family and wanted to have a few days doing something else as we were a 20min bus ride to Innsbruck. Otherwise my preference would be a larger resort with more varied runs.
Quite small but ideal for family groups with enough range of runs(blues&reds) to test ability but also a good level of runs to teach your kids on. The pistes were well groomed and in general good condition.
Lifts were moderately busy but the speed often meant the queues went down quickly. The routes Fernau and Wild GrubN are the only way to ski off the mountain to the Apres bar at the base. If youre not a competent skier Id generally give this a swerve as you become a hazard to others on the route. Wild GrubN gets abit of a mess at the base too.
Ski Pass.
Reasonably priced and if you are travelling with a u10 they get theirs free for the same duration as the paying adults ski pass.
Food & Drink.
There are a good range of restaurants on piste. The largest one being around the Big Family Ski area. Prices are what youd come to expect on piste. Not as expensive as other European Ski resorts.
Apres prices are very good and similar to what you would pay if you werent at a ski resort.
Ski Bus.
I would aim to get the earlier buses for first lift. Later ones are usually full as the Ski schools dont start until later so you get caught in essentially the school run.
Lift pass gets you free us of transport up and down the Valley.
Rental.
Intersport provide ski rentals at the base and at the Gamsgarten piste station. You can also check your skis in on an evening to not carry them back down the mountain.
SkiSet is also in Neustift which provides a very budget friendly service.
Accomodation.
Accomodation throughout the valley is very good and caters to every budget. Most often have a ski and boot storage aswell as provide a private ski bus.
Pros
U10s ski pass
Cheap food and drink
Not alot of queues
Cons
Packed Ski buses
2 ways off the mountain to Apres
The resorts facilities extend beyond the slopes, with cozy lodges providing a warm refuge. Culinary delights await at the dining venues, offering a variety of options to satisfy post-ski cravings. The spa provides a soothing retreat, completing the experience of relaxation and rejuvenation.
