I absolutely loved it!!!
Everyone we spoke to there was lovely and the vibes were everything I was hoping they would be. Everyone was there to have a great time and I even got helped down a spicy red run by two lovely German fellows who were very encouraging and helped me overcome my fear of steeper slopes!
Theres no judging of people on runs, everyone just seems to get on with each other and the nightlife particularly at Soul House is incredible!!! Hopefully Rifforama are still playing as they were absolutely fantastic and got everyone singing and dancing!
As for the lifts, they were modern and easy to navigate, everything worked perfectly, and there were plenty of gorgeous runs for people of all abilities which was great!
Would 100% go back, I have so many great memories and cant thank the people of Saalbach enough for making my first ski trip one of the best times of my life!
The ski area is huge with slopes to cater for all levels. Off piste is there to be found but anything under a lift line is liable to be tracked out fairly quickly. A short walk and a good interrogation of google maps can prove fruitful.
Après ski is spot on. The Goatstall and Drive through bar are always bouncing at the end of the day.
Eating out has plentiful options. Hinterglemm has slowly phased out any real semblance of nightlife. Once upon a time there were numerous late night options to choose from. These days you really need to head to Saalbach if you want to take the party into the night.
This is a shame as a rowdy game of nails followed by the London pub was always a highlight.
Night skiing is great fun on the floodlight slope and the resort has a huge number of high quality eateries on the mountain many of which are decent value for money.
If you come to this neck of the woods, you are doing yourself a disservice by not visiting the chicken restaurant towards Leogang. Reserve early. Eat well!!
In summary, in everything aside from nightlife, Hinterglemm gets a big thumbs up.
Highly recommended
Fab mixture of runs to please everyone, ski the challenges where the FIS races at Hinterglemm are held or take the massively long blues from Schattberg into the circuit or the steep blacks from the same top lift back into Saalbach.
You can also ski to Leogang on gloriously long runs or even over to Fieberbrunn. For us, the trip on the link to Zell am See is pointless as not as good.
Apres is plentiful, lively, varied and good value. there is a huge choice of accommodation and eateries to suit all budgets and likes, we've tried this resort at all accommodation levels and we return year after year now.
Fantastic lift system, second to none
. Great destination for families and multi level groups .
