What Skiers Say About Lech Zürs am Arlberg
Lech Zürs attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, many from the UK and North America, who consistently praise the extensive Arlberg ski area with its efficient lift system and excellent piste grooming. The resort is repeatedly described as upscale and expensive, with high-quality accommodation, dining, and infrastructure, though this pricing is noted as a barrier by some. Snow reliability is frequently mentioned as strong, with good off-piste opportunities when conditions allow. Reviewers note the quieter, more refined atmosphere compared to St Anton, with limited après-ski and nightlife. Several users mention the terrain is challenging for true beginners, with a notable gap between nursery slopes and blue runs.

Off the slopes, Lech doesnt disappoint either. The après-ski is more refined than rowdy, which suits me perfectly. I loved kicking back in one of the cozy mountain huts with a warm drink after a day of skiing. The food is incredible tooeverything from hearty Austrian classics to high-end Michelin-starred dining. Accommodation options are great, whether youre after a luxury ski-in/ski-out hotel or something more budget-friendly. All in all, Lech is the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and charm. Ill definitely be back!
Experience based one skiing in the month of December.
We spent a week over Christmas 2024 at the resort, and were fortunate to get a massive dump of snow early in the week. The Arlberg is incredibly snow-sure - in fact Warth, a neighbouring resort, is the snowiest in the alps.
The ski area you have access to with your ski pass is massive. Thanks to the opening of a cable car at Zurs, you can now ski all the way to St Anton and enjoy the best apres ski in the alps.
Lech, and particularly Oberlech, is an expensive resort, but worth every penny to have such a fantastic ski area on your doorstep. The people are lovely and all of the food, on or off mountain is exquisite.
The off piste availability, when you are fortunate to experience pow days, is incredible. At a relatively low altitude vs the likes of Val Thorens or similar French resorts, means that you will often find yourself skiing between trees, and any off-piste fan knows the best off piste is between trees
The terrain park is only small in Lech so I wouldnt suggest staying here if thats what you are looking for, but there are small and medium kickers, as well as a couple other features like pipes and rails but ultimately not a park centric resort.
I fully recommend staying and skiing in lech. It is truly the best skiing the alps has to offer.
Mountain food is pricey but always great quality. Head on thr gondola link to Warth for steeper terrain and cheaper eats.
The slopes are more difficult overall for a beginner compared to 3 valleys, but I managed to get around okay. There are a few good blue runs that lead back to the town and lifts. The red runs are mlre difficult than 3 valley red runs. I managed the connection to Zurs, just about. Very pretty and fairly quiet runs.
Apres included nearby Mooserkreuz in Saint Anton. There's a bus that connects the train station, through St Anton, to Lech.
The journey from Innsbruck airport was very easy.
Very up market and a well run resort area not cheap but brings out the best in visitor comforts including heated chair lifts and gourmet restaurants
The skiing is superb and good for all levels and also caters for non skiers
Very pretty resort area with 1st class hotels with restaurants in abundance.
Oberlech is car free and all accommodation is ski in ski out.
Definitely a resort to visit at least once in a lifetime.
