What Skiers Say About Lech Zürs am Arlberg

Lech Zürs attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, many from the UK and North America, who consistently praise the extensive Arlberg ski area with its efficient lift system and excellent piste grooming. The resort is repeatedly described as upscale and expensive, with high-quality accommodation, dining, and infrastructure, though this pricing is noted as a barrier by some. Snow reliability is frequently mentioned as strong, with good off-piste opportunities when conditions allow. Reviewers note the quieter, more refined atmosphere compared to St Anton, with limited après-ski and nightlife. Several users mention the terrain is challenging for true beginners, with a notable gap between nursery slopes and blue runs.

85 chairlifts on one pass pretty much sets you up for adventure if you are an intermediate skier or above, great off-piste options in all levels of terrain, and I really mean all levels: I skied powder right next to the beginner slopes and right next to the steepest run on the resort within 30 min. There is so much terrain the biggest problem is the potential to get lost because of the tricky German names of some of the lists (here's looking at you, Zürs, with the TrittKopf Bahn and the TrittAlpe Bahn on opposite ends of the resort) with 14 different ski schools spread over 8 different ski area bases tied into one pass, you'll never get caught up in the nonsense of one resort one ski school like north america. During the high season, certain slopes can feel crowded, but if you tour around you can always find a quieter zone.

Excellent skiing with some of the best runs in the area. My favorite run goes from the top of the cable car back to Zurs

Lovely skiing. Expensive town, lovely views from the mountains, lots of other nearby towns to explore too. Food good but a lot of the same options for dinner, lunch more interesting. Other activities such as tobogganing and ice skating available. Small enough to feel like a local quickly, but large enough to have multiple options for eating / drinking / grocery shopping.

Snow sure, and stylish, the Arlberg is a good as it gets and Lech is right at the heart of it. Whilst it lacks black runs in Lech itself, the terrain is fabulous and engaging. If you need extra challenge simple head up to Langer Zug for trill, go off piste for some some of the best back country around or head over to St Anton for the day and hit as many as you can before it's time to come home. Lech and Zurs are both perfectly central if you want to explore all of the Arlberg over your stay, without stressing about getting stranded missing last lifts. What's not to like? Well, possibly the most expensive lift pass anywhere.

Unfortunately we had Föhn conditions in The second week of March, resulting in slushy snow on lower slopes in Lech

Skiing in Zürs was much better the greater altitude of 1700+ metres helped greatly

Run 144 was in good condition and relatively quiet Red which helped link into the lift system to travel to StAnton

Run 145 was a great Blue warm up run especially in the morning, often empty

Itineraries 170 and 172 accessed via Madloch offering spectacular views and decents to Zug which then links back to Ober Lech, these were no more difficult than Red runs during our stay, we also used this run to link to Warth, having previously stayed at StAnton it was good to explore Warth and its excellent intermediate terrain, rather than arriving eating lunch and returning to StAnton

We stayed at Boutique Hotel Erzberg a very traditional hotel with excellent food and hospitality only 50 meters away from the ski lift, the hotel has an arrangement with a local ski shop, skis are picked up at 4pm and returned freshly serviced reddy for the next day (ours were back within 2 hours though this may have been exceptional?)

We were intimidated before going that it would be too flashy but it's actually just gorgeous. It's so easy to get around, it's so beautiful, the lifts are wonderful, the locals are dreamy. The runs are a delight, the access to the rest of the Arlberg is second to none but coming back to Lech is heaven

Great resort but not the best for beginners. Quote a lot of mogul rides. Good connection to St Ankton. Fun words ski and some nice restaurants in the mountain. Can be pricey

I love this ski area. Lech, Oberlech, Warth and Schrocken are well connected. Great lifts allow you to disperse across the area. The runs are well kept, although the run back to the town at the end of the day can get messy! It's high altitude, so snow sure. I love Lech

Amazing Snowboarding Trip in Austria! We recently had an incredible snowboarding trip in Austria. We stayed in budget-friendly accommodation located just 10-15 minutes from the slopes, which was incredibly convenient. The skiing/snowboarding was fantastic, and we had an amazing time exploring the area. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience.

Lech is a fantastic resort if you are looking for great snow and a slightly more relaxed vibe. This is not for party animals, nor the most affordable resort, but that does mean its less crowded and in general a lovely location to go skiing, with access to miles of runs as well as connectivity down to St Anton, which is all about the apre.

Slopes well groomed but lots of cat tracks which is not greay for snowboarders. Good off piste.Very quiet slopes. Food reasonably priced on slopes but much more expensive in the resort. Very simple food and quite bad even in the top restaurants. Extremely overpriced food in the resort. Apres ski much more moderate and quiet than most resorts. L
