Great valley in Austria, with a pretty reliable snow record. Bad Hofgastien is a very nice town with some good restaurants, and a newly upgraded gondola station. The groomed runs are great with lots of variety, and never too busy. If you run out of runs, the snow sure Sport Gastien is a 20 minute drive away and great on a powder day.

A fantastic place for beginners to learn, with enough variety of other slopes and nearby resorts for other more experienced skiers in the group to go off and enjoy. It was quiet with plenty of snow and options to ski, excellent progression slopes to get beginners off the nursery and onto the mountain without it being too daunting! The instructors are brilliant, very calm and friendly, giving useful advice and remaining patient throughout.

A great resort for intermediates who enjoy red and black runs. Perfect for the family with plenty of places to eat for a reasonable price. Ski school has plenty of amazing teachers who will do their best to improve your technique and areas you want to develop. Has some amazing off piste areas in sports Gastein and some smaller off piste areas in the main bad Hofgastein area for those not too confident. Would recommend. However, I would add that if youre a fast skier you could complete the whole area in about 3 days if you solely ski piste.

Great location, friendly staff, efficient lifts and well maintained runs. This was a great location for all, especially families. Access via road and rail totally fuss free. Gastein card is a great for local discounts and bus hop on /hop off resort travel. The local thermal spas are a top tip to visit to relax after a day on the mountain. Lots of accommodation options from apartments to hotels. On the quiet side for some folk but we found it was perfect. It dumped powdered too!

Bad Gastien is pretty decent value for money. Lots of Swedish apres bars. Recommended getting a ski locker at the bottom of the lift so you don't have to carry them to where you are staying. Great spa a couple of towns over too

Overall, Bad Gastein is a lovely resort. The pistes were plenty and varied. You can ski over to Bad Hofgastein and get a free bus to Sportgastein (definitely worth a day there!). The longest run in the East Alps was fun to do with amazing scenery. For apres, you have a choice of relaxed bars or being a spa town, there is a swimming-sauna complex to treat yourself to. In February, Red Bull Play streets transformed the town into an incredible slopestyle course, so if your trip is over the same week, I would highly recommend watching that! One thing to bear in mind is where you choose you accommodation. It can be hilly so I recommend staying near the Bad Gastein train station which is also by the main lift. That's the other thing, it gets busy in the morning as there is only one gondola / lift to take you up the mountain. But overall, I would recommend a week in Bad Gastein!
