What Skiers Say About Red Mountain

Red Mountain attracts predominantly advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders seeking steep, natural terrain and extensive tree skiing. Reviewers consistently highlight minimal lift queues, abundant space with few crowds, and reliable powder conditions, though some note inconsistent snow years with rain events. The resort appeals to those prioritising terrain quality over modern infrastructure, with multiple mentions of slow, older lifts. Accommodations range from the Josie Hotel at the base to town options in nearby Rossland, about 10-15 minutes away. The overall vibe is described as relaxed, authentic, and community-oriented rather than polished or corporate.

Red is an absolute hidden gem, the resort is nestled away in the Monashee range over looking the Columbia river so an outstanding view no matter the conditions. With the ability to ski 360 around 3 separate mountains, the range of on and off piste terrain is incredible and nearly endless. For more advanced skiers, the vast amount of inbound tree runs is amazing.

Although the thing that stood out to me that sets Red above every other Canadian resort is the food. I grabbed a bowl of chilli one afternoon expecting the standard overpriced, self serve paper bowl mediocre chilli. I was amazed when I was SERVED a bowl of chilli with all the toppings you could ask for in a ceramic bowl for under $10!

If youre looking for endless new terrain, make red your next stop, I promise you wont regret it.

Laid back, quiet, friendly and authentic ski town and resort. Great food scene in Rossland, the Josie is an amazing hotel on hill and when it dumps at Red it lasts for days. Off piste, hang on tight and be ready to drop off pillows of delight.

I have been skiing red mountain resort since I was very young as it is my local mountain, since I learned to ski my skill has advanced to doing double black diamonds in the powder, going light speed down groomers to throwing tricks in the park. Red mountain has some of the best apres ski in the world and is one of the largest ski areas in North America. An awesome fact about red mountain is that it is on the powder highway which stops by many other great ski resorts in Canada. Red mountain has amazed many people I know and ski the mountain with since it has opened in 1947, being one of the first mountains with lift service in the world and it has also amazed me since I was skiing the mountain for the very first time. If your looking for a mountain that does not have pocket draining prices, has runs and terrain for any shredder, great accommodations and awesome history come by Red mountain we would love to have you and you will love to be here.
