What Skiers Say About Panorama Mountain

Panorama attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many families and repeat visitors. The most consistent themes are minimal lift queues, excellent grooming, long runs with significant vertical, and true ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Reviewers frequently mention Taynton Bowl for powder and off-piste terrain, though several note that snowfall can be inconsistent and conditions occasionally icy. The resort is described as quiet and uncrowded, with limited nightlife and dining options. Advanced and expert riders appreciate the variety of terrain, while some find the lift setup inconvenient with multiple stops and flat traverses.

Incredible lodging and apres-ski experience. Hill is relatively quiet most days but has a decent amount to offer and a decent backside. Good variation between beginner and advanced terrain, however double blacks and above are limited and there is less technical terrain to be offered. Some great lodges on the hill to stop in for a bite to eat or get a drink.

Exposed and can get very cold - pretty scary trip on that road up - but overall great place to ride. Made new friends and enjoyed a very warm and convivial atmosphere. Not that far from town either.

Panorama may not get record amounts of snow, but its back bowl and hidden runs have some great Freeride and powder pockets. What Panorama really has going for itself is amazing on hill eating, extremely top notch groomers, and world class views. Mount Nelson is one of those views that continues to blow me away every time is ski there, as it towers over every part of the resort. Some slack country is available off the back bowl. The back bowl also features the monster pass which gives you powder cat shuttles to the back bowl which is great if you are lazy and want fresh tracks but sucks to whatch zoom buy when you are fit and broke and hate watching Jerrys poach your pow. If you happen to be in the area, hit up Pano and the insane ski mountaineering and touring surrounding it.

Panorama is really nice for its amazing competition leval groomed runs, a good sized off piste bowl and enough to really keep you busy for a good week ski holiday. Its also classed as a hidden gem with the resort being of a very quiet nature especially compared to its size.

I went on a ski trip to Banff in January 2024. I skied with my best friend and his family for a week then I stayed and skied by myself for a week. I skied Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Panorama BC. All three resorts were amazing, but Panorama stood out for me as I am an east coast skier who likes wide never ending groomed runs to ski with my race skis. I was astonished by how much terrain and length of vertical Panorama had compared to Lake Louise and Sunshine Village (at least another thousand vertical feet, just over 4,000 vertical feet). I was also was amazed by how many incredible groomed runs there were in addition to the length of vertical that can be skied in one go. I also loved how there were many small lodges on the hill instead of one large one at the bottom. The drive from Invermere BC through a canyon to the resort was absolutely incredible. I was only planning to ski Panorama for one day because it was two hours from Banff, but I ended up doing it four days in a row and did not regret a single minute spent there. Ironically enough I came across 2 couples on the Lake Louise gondola that said Panorama was a hidden gem. Crazy coincidence that was mentioned verbatim twice by different people. It would be number one on my list to spend the most time at when I come back skiing there which is January 2025. The views from the top of the mountain at a small hut and chairlift of the valley are also incredible. Unlike Sunshine Village and Lake Louise, where the mountains are farther away in the distance across the valley at Panorama you can literally see the next mountain range right in your face. Every selfie or photo I took looked like it was fake because the scenery was so incredible. The drive across the Kooteney Highway from Banff for two hours was the most unbelievable views of mountains and valleys Ive ever seen on a ski trip. The only thing more disappointing was having to come home after 2 weeks of skiing. I literally couldve skied there every day for weeks if I had the opportunity. Fortunately, I managed to log in 150,000 vertical feet into weeks skied the most Ive ever done. If if Im being transparent and honest, its probably the best two weeks ski trip Ive ever been on in my life and Ive been on many other ski trips. The scenery in and around Banff, including panorama or as good as anything Ive ever seen. I would 100% tell anyone who wants an amazing ski trip to stay in Banff spend a lot of time at Panorama (most days to ski there) certainly go to the other resorts like Sunshine Village, Lake Louise and other resorts further from Banff but if you love skiing/snowboarding lots of vertical feet, choice of many groomed runs, incredible scenery, small crowds, great quaint small lodges on piste and an amazing 2 hour drive through incredible scenery from Banff to Panorama it is the place to go.

My family and I visit Panorama yearly, and have for the past 40 years. When we started, it was a portable shelter and a T-bar. It has come a long way since then, and has only gotten better with age. The best man made snow and grooming for those who like or need that, as well as a bunch of more advanced runs and some truly amazing double black terrain in the monster bowl. This hill has it all, amazing ski school, amazing culture, amazing terrain. Highly recommend.

Amazing family friendly resort with tonnes of lodging options ski in/out. Variety of dining, helicopter skiing and hot pools! Budget ski in/out is awesome! Crazy good terrain that really lasts in tayton bowl (hike in) while most riders are on the endless groomers. Three lifts to the summit where there's an awesome hut with short order food items, baked goods, fondue, coffee and adult beverages. Plus! 2 mid mountain huts. Dope underestimated place, just a bit outta the way.

I have had some of the best days of my life at this ski resort! Their accommodation is amazing as well. The workers there are the most friendly people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. The restaurants on the resort have never missed! Most of them have amazing views as well. I have been going to this resort since I was kid and I still continue to go, even without my family! I will continue to go to this resort for the rest of my life! It is quiet, they have nice groomed runs, awesome moguls and all of their tree runs are snowboard friendly! :)

My favourite resort Ive ever been to in terms of terrain, accommodations, and overall atmosphere. Only one complaint really, the snow. Ive been to this resort almost every winter for the last 15 years. When the snow is good, it is unbeatable. When the snow is bad, which unfortunately seems to be half the time, I still have a great time; its just in the T Bar and Jack Pine instead of the runs.

Panorama is a fantastic hill for all levels of skiers or boarders. The views are amazing! The lifts are set up for a great flow of the mountains, if you want a long run to feel the burn pano has many options for that.
They have great options for steep and deep! With a little hike back to the Taynton bowls, the snow cat can take you higher or you can hike up. I found the lower bowls great enough, C-spine and Kinbasket are my go too. Only downfall is that you have to go back to the base, taking long ski out, some people don't like it I don't mind it, at least you dont need to pole your way down, the incredible run that you just did makes up for it! They have great glades, mogles and fantastic groomers for wide GS turns! Sorry I'm not to sure how the park is, I'm to old for the parks!! Looks fine from outside the ropes.
The hill is very quiet no long lift lines, holidays will be different, with all of the on hill accommodations full.
I enjoy a Bevy at the T-bar after my day. Their are a couple of eating options for dinner or you can take a drive back down the hill to Invermere, Ullr Bar has great food and drink!!
Overall the hill is 5+ in my books.

We head to panorama every year. Its big sell is the family friendly set up and food options. There is skating and an amazing hot pool set up. The accommodation is great though because its not a village prices are quite steep.

We recently went to Panorama for five days. It is a beautiful quiet location. The setup of the hill makes it very accessible for families with accommodation right at the bottom of the main chairlifts. We choose to stay a short gondola ride from the top and it was peaceful and beautiful location.

The runs themselves were not our favorite, finding the blue quite steep in some areas for our 9 year old to manage. Two of us ended up having to ski off the main two chairlifts for the three days we were there. I would not say Panorama is beginner friendly if you are planning on traveling a distance to get there! However they have a nice smaller terrain park as well as the larger one which is good for the kids!

The coffee shop in the Approach was quite good but closed to early at 3. We wouldve enjoyed a coffee after skiing! Although we did not eat out we heard quite good reviews about the food but had been warned to take our own since it is so expensive to take the whole family out. The general store although pricey has quite a variety in case you forgot or need something!

What a hidden gem. Youll never be waiting longer than 5 mins in lift lines on the busiest of days. Amazing selection of terrain for all skill levels. Beginner slopes are varied and slowly progressive. Advanced and expert terrain is incredibly varied. Taynton bowl provides amazing avalanche controlled off-piste skiing terrain.

The resort is focused on providing excellent riding conditions and a family friendly atmosphere therefore, the resort itself is limited in terms of social events, dining options and off mountain activities. They also offer an excellent daycare called Wee Wascals that provide children who are too young to ski a fun day on the mountain.

Favourite skiing resort! Been a family favourite. Weve been going to panorama once a year for 20 years, and I have been skiings for 15! I was scared to go past the first chairlift as a kid even though I had the skills which had been developed from lessons with the ski school! However because the mile one hut used to be up off the second chair, my parents used as a way to get me to go up there by bribing me with a hot chocolate! To this day anytime I go skiing Its a tradition to have a hot chocolate when skiing. Another key memory would be the tubing on the bunny hill, night skiing and build a bear night (just to name a few). This resorts runs may be longer and steeper then other mountains but the quality of care for the snow, the grooming quality and quality of the snow make for some of the best skiing Ive done! Additionally the views are breath taking and the hidden secrets like a playground in the trees make for memories you wont forget! As well, if you end up on a run that you dont think you can do there are many options on block runs to take the easier way down and still be able to ski your favourite runs! However sadly I broke my leg and was not able to ski for 2 years, but due to the familiarity of the resort, runs as well as the snow conditions and quality of the snow gave me the confidence to face my fear of injuring myself again and I gave skiings a shot this year! Best decision I made, the second day I went out I had the best powder day in a long time! Which I would never have got to experience if I wasnt comfortable with the mountain, the resort and those memories with my family and friends! Panorama holds a special place in my heart !

Its an empty mountain (most of the time, weekends are always busier) but there is a ton of terrain to shred and runs for every ability. Some sweet tree runs from the top all the way down and the bowl is a ton of fun. The only thing about this resort that really sucks is how long it takes to get to the top and the way lifts are set up. Its less annoying as a skier than it would be for a snowboarder like my fiancé who had to buckle up to unbuckle 30 seconds later often. Plus the traverse from Champaigne to summit is awful - a few icy corners and a traffic jam most of the time.
