Appalachian is a cool place during the week for college kids but unsafe on the weekends and holidays. It's a lot of beginners from Florida making a mess of the place. The lessons are great. The food is mediocre. No apres ski at all.

This is a really small mountain that on certain days can get really busy, meaning long line for a run that takes 30 seconds. With this said this is one of the best mountains in NC to learn on.

App ski is our home mountain. Great atmosphere, family friendly, and all around good time. Not the largest hill, by any means but always a good time.

The resort was phenomenal! Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. It was not over crowded which I really liked. Everything from inside and out was ver maintained and clean. Great place for the whole family will most certainly be going back!

The skiing here is insane. I'm a beginner and someone was with me every step of the way to teach me. I will be definitely vacationing here again. Next time I will bring my kids. Once in a lifetime experience. Can't wait to go ai. Highly recommend

My brother goes to school at App State so we decided to stay there for a weekend and attend the snowboarding areas. Very fun! Lots of activities and great snow. Very nice people and were nice to my family and I. Great views and site seeing. Also great area to eat food.

As this mountain is my local, I love going here because it is so close to where I go to college. The slopes are great for beginners and as you get deeper into winter the snow quality gets better and better. As can be expected for East coast, the powder isnt great but it is still very soft snow. The runs are very enjoyable and unique, and the terrain park has a ton of small but cool obstacles. The staff are very welcoming and make sure that your time spent is the best it can be. The lodge also has great accommodations for food, any gear you might need in both upper and lower shops, and a great team of instructors who care about your progress as an individual. Make sure to wear helmets and padded pants as sometimes it can get icy.

I primarily ski Terrain Parks when I am on the east coast. App Ski has hands down the best terrain park in NC. However, skiing in NC is not known for tree runs or groomers. I would recommend going further up north for groomers. With that being said, App Ski is perfect for what I enjoy doing. I also believe that the mountain would be a decent place to learn, as the blues and black diamonds are super mellow in comparison to other mountains.

This is a great introductory mountain to learn the ropes. Pretty touristy though. Decent snow, but watch for icy conditions. Easy to get to, between Boone and Blowing Rock
